Sorcerer UR/NF VP9.1.x

Version: 1.1.0
Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): UncleReamus, Noah Fentz

Description:
For use with VP 9.1.x or later.
This is the initial release (v1.0.0) of Sorcerer FULL SCREEN. Future updates from Noah Fentz and myself will include nicer chrome metal textures, various sound effects, and other goodies and extras.

This is the first table release I have done lighting effects on, and it has been by far the most involved I have gotten in the process. Noah hasn't yet added his touch to the table, so it can only get better once he gets around to it.

Thanks go out to RipleYYY for the pictures and testing he provided, destruk for the help he continuously dishes out, and Noah for the huge amount of help, resources and work he has done.

You can get a high-res textures pack here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JZ0L65P5

Just simply re-import these graphics into the image editor.

Enjoy!

Update v1.1.0
  • Alpha ramps added for clear plastics

That a awesome release. The table looks and play very good. Thanks for the highres-pack.

I can remember that it is only a 3 ball game and not a five ball game , is that correct?

Yes, this is a 3 ball game, but you can adjust it to be a 5 ball game, or any different number of balls per game.

Just go to the Williams System 9 link in my Guide to Adjust Balls per Game on non-DMD tables to see the procedure.

BTW....nice table UR!

Thank you very much for this table. I love Sorcerer and have been playing the table on the 360 wphof, multiple fp versions and pacdude's vp8 table under vp9. Until now pacdude's was still my favorite version. Your vp9 version features really awesome lighting that doesn't bog my machine during multiball like earlier versions did. Your release announcement says there are still things to add but after playing a couple of quick games, it is hard to imagine how this could be any better. The table looks excellent even without the high res textures pack. The play is fast and the physics are great. Thanks again for this great recreation.

In my opinion, this is one of the best looking VP games ever. Great job with the graphics! Gameplay is a lot more fun and engaging than I thought from a game of this era. Very enjoyable! I tried to download the high res pack but got this error:

Filename: Sorcerer_LargeTextures.zip
File description: Sorcerer_LargeTextures
File size: 16.22 MB
The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable.

@JoshuaB... The download link for the textures works for me... maybe try again or use a different web browser. I used to have intermittent problems with Megaupload depending on if I was in FF or IE.

@speed24... Load the table in VP, go to: Table - Image Manager. Look in the texture pack you downloaded to see each image that can be replaced. Choose one of those images in the image manager, and click 'Reimport From' then navigate to the textures pack on your hard drive, and choose the correct high res image to 'replace' the low res version of the same name.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, but I guess I can't please everyone.. someone already rated it one star biggrin.gif

The improvements Noah and I were talking about bringing to the table still include a nicer plunger reel (or one in general for FS rolleyes.gif), chrome metal textures that are more 'reflective' and authentic, ball rolling sounds, other sound effects throughout the table, maybe even ball reflections like we did in SBM, etc. Noah has a knack for making a ton of subtle improvements, so definitely be on the lookout for an update.

A really superb effort as it stands. I love how bouncy this plays without feeling like the ball is out of control. Able to rack up a nice score, while staying focused, but snooze and you lose. Another great Williams classic that proves DMD's and modes aren't necessary to make a game triumph. This really rawks.
