EDIT, July 1st: I'm no longer building the table itself. Instead, I'm just redrawing all the artwork. For WIP updates on the art, skip ahead to this post.

Alright, as I've hinted at elsewhere, I'm making Street Fighter II. At the very least, I'm going to TRY and make Street Fighter II. I've never built a table from scratch before, but I've at least learned my way around the editor from modding. I just have no idea how to script. I suppose I'll figure it out as I go along, eh? At least there's several solid tutorials about scripting on this very forum, so that should help. Join me as I jump into the deep end on my first table. Here's my first screenshot, showing the table very much in its infancy.

As far as resources go, I've got a good stripped playfield, and the IPDB (for once) actually has really good pics of several plastics. That said, if you happen to have any nice resources for SF2 handy, let me know. I've clearly got a long way to go before this sucker's done.

hey thats awsome news. this was also a table i was considering to do, but i ended up choosing SMB instead. so its nice to see someone else taking this on.
i wouldnt worry too much about not knowing scripting, when i started my table i knew absolutley nothing about it and you just learn little steps as you go. also like you said there are some nice tutorial script tables and also check some of JP's or unclewilly's tables as they document their scripting really well.

This is awwsome news.

I'm defiently a fan of the Street Fighter franchise.

I also hope your planning to do a 4:3 conversion as well because I don't have a pincab, yet.

WIP is lookin' promising Trout.

Pft, who needs pincabs? I just rotate my 16:9 monitor 90 degrees and prop it up on my desk against the wall. wink.gif

I really have no interest in 4:3 tables, but I fully intend to make the table angle independent, so anyone that wants to make it 4:3 would find it a trivial task.

This is a very difficult machine to photograph - particularly the translite. I bought a translite for it last week for $40 and if/when it gets here I'll be scanning it in. I can get you a link with the pictures I have. I also have a video of the flashers behind the translite - however I don't have their numbers or sequencing yet for use in vpm or a UVP server addon. They go very fast and sometimes it uses more than one at a time, so it'll probably need to be frame-by-frame to figure out what matches up with what.

no. Just I wasn't happy with the backglass images of this game available online, and even with my wife's $600 camera we couldn't get a photo of the translite from the local arcade without glare and reflections, so I bought a translite for it.

Appro of nothing, but I hate that translite. It's got, like, the worst drawing of Chun-Li in human history. Seriously, I just can't stand looking at it. For my own personal use, I suspect I'll end up making my own backglass image with official Capcom artwork. But, sadly, for maximum authenticity and for the purposes of preservation, the original translite must still be recreated. Thanks for your efforts on that front, Destruk. I actually almost bought one of the translites myself on eBay - they're remarkably cheap (as far as translites go).

As for cost, Marco Specialties has a large selection of gottlieb translites for $34 - but they get you on the shipping. Steve Young sells them for $40-$50 too. I should have checked ebay if only to get a seller who was a little more polite/decent.

Here's what pictures I have of the table. There are probably duplicates of some of the pictures and some are not that good. Hopefully there are a few that will be helpful.

There's nothing worth taking a picture of. It literally is just my 23" widescreen monitor rotated and leaning against the bookshelf connected to my desk. I don't even have a backglass monitor - UVP kills the performance on several of my tables.

Anyway, as for SF2, I'm still working on it, just haven't done anything worth screenshotting yet. The playfield is almost completely laid out now, though. Just needs ramps. Then I'll start making it pretty.

Well, with Goldeneye in the can (barring whatever bug fixes people require), I loaded SF2 up into VP for the first time in a couple weeks.

Clearly the table is still in its infancy, but I'm really trying to hammer out the detail and accuracy modern VP players demand. Building this stuff nicely is strangely satisfying - I may never just plain mod again.

Cool, if your goldeneye table is anything to go by this will be wonderful!!! Please do Jurassic park or Batman (Data East) after this tongue.gif

Have you any previous experience with programing trout, as i do not and think i would never be able to recreate a VP table, but you give me hope that one day i might try my hand at it

Man, this table is SCREWED! AH HA HA HA HA! God, I'm funny.

In addition to the plethora of nuts and bolts, I add the Hurricane Kick area, some posts, and a few targets. Man, I love watching this thing slowly come together.

I don't have a bloody clue. Well, that's not completely true - I know a little bit, like how lights work and some other small things. But I'll be going into the scripting with almost no experience. I figure I'll just build the table itself and worry about how it works later.
