I am setting up a new computer for a virtual pinball cabinet. I have a playfield TV, a backglass monitor and a PinDMD v3. I started by using NailBuster's tutorial video and installing via Baller-Installer. But I am having an odd problem. I am just starting by trying to launch VPX 10.8 GL-64 with no front end. I get into the editor and load a table and then press F5 to play the table. I then quit the table and return to the editor. I close the table's file from the editor and load another one and launch it. But when the second table launches, I see the playfield for the second table as expected, but I still see the backglass for the first table, and I don't know why. I have successfully installed other times in the past without this issue, but I can't seem to get by the issue this time.

I have also tried to update to the latest B2SServer, VPX, and VPinMAME manually on top of the versions that baller-installer started with, but this hasn't fixed the problem.

I really would appreciate anyone's help.

THANKS!!

You should allways close VPX and restart the program instead of closing the table and open another one. That may work with some tables but can result in strange effects.

Also you should at first configure the whole software parts using the default versions included in the baller installer, (ok, installing DOF manually is necessary). I wouldn't recommend installing version 2.0 just yet.

Thanks fhjui. Is this really what everyone else does too? I have been using VPX since 2016, and have gone though several reinstallations in the last 10 years. And I have always been able to close a table from the VPX editor and then open another one without exiting VPX and have never had this problem before. But now it is happening consistently.

I just tested this for you on my 3-screen cabinet.

From VPX-Editor directly, I am able to go from one Table to another with no problems. When I press ESC button, then click Quit (to return to Editor) the Backglass monitor (B2S) and my 3rd-screen (DMD) turn black again (my Windows-11 desktop's color).

I went from F14, to T2, to ToM. I "Closed" the previous Table, but I never exited VPX-Editor.

Differences are:

- I'm running VPX v10.8.0 (64-bit Direct-X)

- I don't use Baller-Installer

- My Front-End is Pinball-Y x64

- I had B2S-Server and DOF (32 & 64) installed first. They are installed in C-root (in their own folders). Each installed once, and properly Registered.

- I used Toxie's Full Installer (once), then Setup/Installed (or checked that they were) both of the included 32-bit and then 64-bit vPinMames.

I hope this helps you get your cabinet up and running.

Thanks Tesla. I will try again tomorrow to see if I can use any of those approaches to make it work and then post back.
