Hello,

 

I'm using the latest Pinup Popper 2.0 and when I load my first game, it always says, "Please wait, I'm now loading the game.  Have fun."  But then when I load games after that, it no longer says anything.

 

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I'd like it to work on every game, not just the first game I load after starting Pinup Popper.

 

Another problem I'm having is a lot times all of the text disappears in the wheel bar.  To get it back, I go back one table then forward one table to where I was and the text displays like it's supposed to.  But I don't want to have to fool with this nuisance all the time.

 

Finally, sometimes but not all the time, while the game is loading, it will show my desktop for a while until the game is fully loaded and ready to go.

 

If anyone can help with any or preferably all of these issues, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I don't have the one idea to solve this issue, but why are you using a beta version?

I assume that parts of the program are not closed completely. You can "activate" the logs for popper by creating the files "PopperDebug.log" and "PINUPDebug.LOG" in the PinUpSystem directory.

Perhaps there are some errors logged when closing a table. But there are only media messages logged, not sql-errors. You can give it a try.

For the text issue, you can make a try to delete the created Thumbnails by click on " Reset all thumbs" in Popper setup.

Would suggest to post sceenshots of your conig in your popper setup of Game/wheel toolbar tab.

Thanks for trying to help me.  I'll do my best to answer all of your questions.

 

1.  I figured if I update to the 2.0 beta now, when the final release comes out it would be easier to upgrade to it.  Maybe that doesn't make any sense to you, but it was my thought process.  Is downgrading back to 1.5 as simple as running the update tool and picking 1.5?  If so, do you suggest I do that?

 

2.  What exactly does resetting all thumbs do?  Will I even "potentially" lose data?  If so, what should I back up exactly before I do that?

 

3.  I have tried and tried to post pictures of what you want but I simply cannot figure out how to do it on this forum.  Would you be kind enough to explain to me how I can most easily attach jpg's here?

 

4.  The launch and close script is different for each emulator and I have many.  Which launch/close script are you referring to exactly?

my remarks to your answers:

 

to 1. I wouldn't worry about that. Nailbuster has to provide a version for a fresh installation—as well as an update for existing installations—anyway.
It is not worth attempting a downgrade. The new version will surely be released shortly. And for downgrade you need a backup of the old version.

Thats the Popper media cache for generated wheel and media thumbnails; upon the first display, Popper generates small preview images of wheels and icons to facilitate faster loading. They are new generated if deleted or when an new table was imported to the db

to 4. Sorry, that was a lapse in judgment on my part, late at night. The error must lie within Popper, since no table is being started yet.

 

I would suggest to activate logging and checking the 2 logfiles for errors.

I'll answer your questions one by one.

 

1.  No, that's not right.  Both problems (the text disappearing from the games on the wheel) were happening before I upgraded to 2.0.

 

2.  Ok, I will try this then.  Thank you for confirming I don't need to back anything up and that it's safe.

 

3.  Thanks for the link.  Hope I can figure it out after reading the thread.

 

4.  Ok, I won't worry about the launch/close scripts then.

 

I will create the logs.  Should I just post them in this thread?

yes you can do that, it's only text files

But please proceed in a structured manner. After you have created the two empty log files, launch Popper; then start a table, wait for it to load, and then exit the table again. Finally, exit Popper as well.

This ensures that the log file contains only the bare essentials—rather than scrolling through dozens of tables. This should keep the log rather small.

Thanks again for your help.  I was able to attach images in another thread!  I really appreciate it.

 

One quick question before I do these logs.  I read the steps you wish for me to take to make the log small, but opening only one table isn't going to show an error because the voice message is played correctly on the first table, remember?  It's the second try or at least the third try that the female voice doesn't say ...Have fun...

Ah, ok, yes. Have forgotten. You can run two tables or until the start message doesn't come up. That would be a good comparison betwwen working and not working. Would suggest to give Popper some seconds between start of a new table (for test only), perhaps something is not closed completely.
