VPX Launcher brings seamless table selection directly into your VR headset — no more fumbling with the Windows desktop or taking off your headset just to pick a new table.

The Problem:

Every time you want to switch tables in Visual Pinball X, the application has to restart. In VR, this means a black screen in your headset, a jarring break in immersion, and a frustrating wait.

The Solution:

VPX Launcher keeps you inside VR the entire time. Browse your entire collection using flipper buttons and cabinet controls, pick a table, and a dedicated VR Loading Screen holds your headset active with a smooth transition while VPX restarts in the background. Free Download: https://vpuniverse.c...launcher-64bit/

Key Features:

----------------------

Full table browser with filters, favorites, and "recently played"

Navigate entirely with cabinet buttons — no mouse or keyboard needed

3D launcher environment inside VR with an animated virtual cabinet

VR Loading Screen

Highscore display with PinMAME/PINemHi integration

Table metadata and artwork support (wheel images, table previews)

POV and VR tweaks accessible without leaving the game Works alongside VPX-Launcher.exe for orchestrated restarts

Built for VR cabinet owners who want a polished, all-in-one experience without ever leaving the headset.

How it's built:

VPX Launcher isn't a separate frontend or wrapper application — it's compiled directly into the Visual Pinball X 10.8.0 executable. The launcher logic lives inside the player engine itself, using the same rendering pipeline and ImGui-based Live UI that VPX already uses for its tweak menus. When VPX starts with a dummy table, it automatically enters launcher mode, turning the full game engine into your table browser. This means zero additional dependencies, no fragile inter-process communication, and native access to VR, input handling, and rendering — all in a single binary.

VPX Launcher v1.29 – Browse and launch your entire VPinball collection without ever leaving VR. Seamless table switching with a dedicated loading screen, cabinet button navigation, filters, favorites, and highscores — all from inside your headset.

Yep, you can have up to 15 preview cabs up at a time....and scroll through them.

I get script errors when launching Batman 66 and Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast. Both tables are current versions. All other tables launch just fine. Also of note, the 2 tables mentioned above launch fine outside of VPX VR Launcher (Using VPX GL64.exe in VR). I even tried beta versions of VPX, no go. This is driving me crazy and I can't find anywhere to post errors for the developer to see and/or respond. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

VPX VR Launcher version 1.54.

Opencomposite (So no Steam VR)

Virtual Desktop on Meta Quest 3.

VPX GL64 Windows 10.8.0 (Latest Stable on Github)

Batman 66 throws this error:

Runtime error
-------------
Line: 26371
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'PuPlayer.LabelNew'

And Iron Maiden LotB throws this error:

Runtime error
-------------
Line: 1583
Variable is undefined: 'LoadEM'

Help?

Nobody? Anybody?

:) all I can say is I just tried both tables launching direct from VPX.exe and they work and then tried from the Launcher and they work there also. I see others have had the same issue going back 3 years (not using the launcher) but I don't see a fix anywhere, something off in your setup somewhere. Doesn't help your situation but at least you know it's not just you :)

Thanks Studly. I just figured it out...so simple I feel stupid......

Fix for Batman 66 / Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast PuP script errors when using VPX VR Launcher 1.54:
If tables work when launched directly but fail through VR Launcher with errors like PuPlayer.LabelNew or LoadEM variable undefined, check that VPX VR Launcher.exe and VPinballX_GL64.exe have the same "Run as administrator" setting.
In my case VPX GL64 was running as administrator but the launcher was not. Setting the launcher to run as administrator fixed both tables immediately.

FYI - All softwares are current except VPX which is latest stable release 10.8.0.

This is very helpful information. Annoying that you went through but, other will benefit from your troubleshooting; myself including. Thanks!

When I first load up VP Launcher, the screen that comes up in VR is Much Too Close to my eyes. How can I move it back, and where do I find the options to have different menu layouts and 3D table views?

Pull the menu up with exit key I think it is and then to get to the page to edit the actual menu, press the "add a coin" key. If the menu is to close to see to make these adjustments, load a table without using the launcher....just the GL.exe and then hit F12 to bring up the menu and flipper over to the "tweak menu" make adjustments to the menu there then go back to the launcher to see what changes you have made.
