I know this is an OLD table, but it runs in VP9 and it has a rom but no B2S back glass. So I decided to make a simple one using B2S Backglass designer. So the procedure was pretty straightforward. Use a backglass image and create 2 x 16 LED segment displays running off the ROM. The result would be perfect except that Display comes up with a lot of foreign characters, The rom DMD is fine, just the one created for the backglass has the odd characters.. Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this problem? Is anyone thinking of doing a VPX version of this table, at least?

Cheers,

Nursie

I just noticed that the man and woman on the playfield look suspiciously like the characters from Spy Hunter.

If anyone is interested,

IPDB notes: Seems to be a mixture of Williams/Bally Electronics and Gottlieb Playfield Parts. The two faces at the bottom of the playfield are taken from the backglass of Bally Midway's 1984 'Spy Hunter'. The backglass art is based on the promotional artwork for the 1985 James Bond film, "A View to A Kill" which shows the two principle characters standing on a suspension bridge main cable. The man’s stance with his gun, however, is taken from the side art of the Sky Hunter video game cabinet.

Hi Stat,

The image is not the problem. The X-Force backglass image I downloaded from the IPDB works fine. The problem is the scoring LED display. What shows up on the B2S when I run the game seems to be a weird character set. Some of the characters match the Rom display, other's don't. I'm wondering if it is something in the rom that doesn't carry across. The best way to show you is to suggest you make a backglass yourself, and see if you get the same result as me.

I compared it with Data Easts, The Simpsons as it has the same LED scoring display. I made a backglass for that and it worked just fine. I am vexed, for sure.

Cheers,

Nursey.

For sure, there is a different between 7, 10 an 14 Segmented LED, you have to check that ... open ROM in VPinMAME - Test, scale up the LED Window and see how many LED Pieces are there for 1 Character,
set that correctly in B2SDsigner

Yep, I have the correct LED display. It is the 14 segment LED. I tried the 7 and 10 segment and they didn't work, although the characters that they did show were "correct" in appearance.. It's almost 4 am here and I haven't been to bed yet, so I will play some more when I get up.

Hi Stat,

I'm downloading this backglass now, but did you notice the characters in the display on the pic? That's what I'm seeing with my own backglass.

The author said that the backglass has a communication error with the rom used in 2 screen, but is OK if used in 3 screen . How do I do that?

OK. seeing as I only have a 12 screen setup, I'll have to live with the "communication error". Maybe this could be resolved in the next version of VPinmame. By then, a VPX version of the table may have been released. Thanks for your input, Stat. Valuable as always.

Cheers,

Nursey.
