No ROM sounds in 64bit VPX - table sounds and 32bit work fine.

Not sure what I did. It seems like it just stopped working but i am sure i did something.

I have reinstalled VPinMame and Vpinball. 32bit and table sounds work normally but 64bit has no rom sounds. I don't want to do much else without some advise. Any ideas?

Vpinball 10.8 and VPinMame 3.6

Hi

Overwrite VpinMame 64 bits files over 32 bits

Run Vpinmame 64 bits setup.

Always it is better keep 64 bits version nowadays for VPX auxiliar program

VPX 32 bits works fine with 64 bits auxiliar programs

I mean that the 32bit and 64bit files seem to live in the same directory and are named differently. Not sure how to overwrite.

I will try

see the pictures below:

The files Pinmame and Pinmame32 - 32 and 64 bits are the same name. Extract and Overwrite 64 over 32 in VpinMame folder

However for Vpinmame there are 32 bits and 64 bits files. Extract both for VpinMame folder

Run first setup for 32 bits and setup64 for 64bits.

ok, i think i followed you correctly and I have performed the actions but the same issue remains. Everything works except for rom sounds in VpinballX64. They seem to have sound when I run the roms from VpinMame Setup64.exe - Test tables. :(

I will try

Everything also seems to work fine in VpinballX_GL64.exe. Are there any limitations if I just use it? It is 64 bit as well I am guessing?

No

Only the Ghostbuster LE 1.2 needs to run with VPX 32 bits that I know

But don´t worry about others auxiliar program as Backglass server, Vpinmame, DMDextensions and FlexDMD stay the same in 64 bits

At last, You can run any table with 64 bits

Most of tables run in 32 bits but there are a lot tables that need to run in 64 bits

Anything else i could try to get the normal VPinball64.exe to work? It is just frustrating that it has no rom sounds but 32bit and GL64bit work..

Nothing really springs to mind, this is a strange one.. Can you confirm that 64 bit DX and GL versions are from the same software version? I.e. same modified date and same version number

In any case you can stay with the GL version as it's said to have a leg up in performance anyhow (not that I have been able to discern it though). You're not missing out on anything by using GL version.

I am pretty sure it is just a glitch. I will be upgrading my cabinet to Win 11 soon and will start fresh and I bet the issue goes away. I appreciate everyone's support!! Thanks and I will move forward using the GL version which seems to work flawlessly so far.

GB can run on 64 bit, just need to run some registry import commands.

You may need to open the coin door on the rom and then turn the sound up.

Its the END key then 8 and 9 are up and down for volume some roms where at 1/2 for me, made a huge difference.

Give it a shot.

Good luck.

Have the table started of course.

What version of VP are we talking about ? I expect your tests are with the exact same table ?

Hmm. That is unexpected. Make sure VP isn't running - then rename %appdata%/VPinball/VPinballX.ini to something else. Restart and test. To go back - just exit VP again, delete newly created ini file and rename back. I doubt that this solves it, but, it would be my own first step in debugging. Since you are running the same exact version - any of the suggestions above should not apply.

Thalamus, do you have GB actually running in 64 bit, or is that just hearsay, because the import didn't work for me.  Maybe I missed something and I'd love it to work without rigamarole first. Any insights would be much appreciated :)

It's actually a trick to let a 32-bit DLL be accessed by a 64-bit application. I asked Noah two and a half years ago if it was okay to publish this, but as the emulator was piracy, it was better not to send this out.

Yes. I have it working. I mentioned it in a thread here a while back - but, some people didn't want me to share the details. Info is found at the other site ... google {F389C8B7-144F-4C63-A2E3-246D168F9D3A} DllSurrogate
