G'day all, I am brand new to this and have just got the software setup and a couple of tables working.  I have run into a problem though and I am stuck. T2 is not displaying any scores in my DMD. The playfield and back glass are fine. I have a 3 screen set up.

Any help greatly appreciated.  This is what I get.

Looks like this is only the B2SDMD. But you also need to place the table dmd or virtual dmd in the black space. Do you get any of those dmds when alt-tabbing through windows?

Hey, thanks for the reply :)
No I don't get them.  I am so new, I didn't even know there was 'another' DMD.   I'll have to do some reading (I literally started this today - heh).  And what is a topper? heh...man I have so much to learn - but thanks again, you've pointed me in the right direction :)

Hi

Most tables where there is DMD there are two way to see them

One is by default ROM Virtual DMD

The other way is by DMDextensions.dll

Run the table.

Press "ALT TAB" to see it

Drag it to the 3 screen and resize it.

The same way if you are using DMDextensions but you need right click  mouse and save the position.

Rom settings image for Virtual DMD - Press F1 and ALT TAB to shows up

romsettings2_t.png

maybe you will need check "Cabinet mode"

In that case, maybe you will need check "Cabinet mode" if not the virtual ROM display will return to default position

Rom settings image for DMDextensions - You will need to download DMDextensions 2.3.1 32 and 64 bit form github. Install both. First 32 bit and then 64 bit.

Don´t mark "cabinet mode" if not maybe the DMDextensions display will be behind the artwork DMD

Thanks for the tips on how the Cabinet-Mode option works.

My Alt-Color file for Rescue 911 is .pal, seems to be 4-color (still better than monochrome), and seems to be following the 4 different (yet complimentary) colors set in the F1 PinMame Options.

Is that normal or as expected?

Hi

It deppends on if It is a colorized ROM

I think that rescue_911 is not ready yet for virtual DMD.

alcolorrescue_911_t.png

The file pin2dmd.pal is only a sample to get a other kind of colour different from default Vpinmame 4 colours

There are some different kind of colour files as:

pin2dmd.PAL

pin2dmd.VNI

these need work together.

pin2dmd.PAC or ROMname.PAC

ROMname.CRZ from serum

In the past, it was need some dlls on Vpinmame folder to work all of them but not more.

The last DMDextensions has a DMDdevice.ini and DMDdevice.dll that work all togetther.

Don´t forget to mark DMDextensions dll and colour when a colour ROM exist.

colourrom2_t.png

Also, you need for ROMname.PAC files  edit your Dmddevice.ine as your Vpinmame system path

All good info. I guess I'm finally going to have to learn all this Alt-Color stuff to get my 40 migrated VPX-Tables all back they way they were on the old machine. Many were ultimately configured with "singular-Table break/fix" forum posts/requests (and nice users helped me).

When I saw that the PinMame options didn't transfer, I thought "No big deal to drag the DMD windows back onto proper position on DMD Screen-3" ... but it's more than that. Totally my fault for not Exporting my PinMame Registry-Keys first, but I just didn't realize the importance.

I hate to be a complainer, but it's interesting that all these decades ago ... PinMame developers picked the Windows-Registry as the storage location (instead of a local .ini file). I'm guessing they just followed the lead of the original MAME developers. Beggars can't be Choosers and I'm totally grateful for all the work put-into MAME, PinMame, VPX, and all the other developers. It's like the coolest thing ever.

Luckily, I'm pretty good about keeping any required files for each Table (that work together) and the Tables can be like the original Retro ones (or better, like with colorized DMDs or enhanced audio). I also keep general VPX setup notes, as well as specifics for each Table in my spreadsheet. It's just too much to remember (like years later) when trying to do a major upgrade or computer migration.

Yes, having your old DMDdevice.ini file and \Alt-Color\ folder are vital for getting it all working again (as part of a migration).

I'm guessing the VPX-7.2-Installer took care for Registering the DMDdevice.dll on my new VPX install.

Thanks. So now, Rescue-911 is fixed-up and back the way it was ... another one of my Top-10 VPX-Tables is ready for some Multi-Player action.

I already had "Use external DMD (dll)" selected. The fix was to also select "Colorize DMD (4 colors)".

The Alt-Color.pal DMD is still 4-colors (which is fine, and better than monochrome). Those vivid 4 colors now shown in PinMame box seem to be translated representations of the optimal ones that make good-use of the available tech. (like you mentioned).
