Black Knight Pinball Full DMD Issue

Black Knight Full DMD

Best Answer dbillett1 , 14 January 2025 - 01:57 AM

Thank you for your response Tesla. Really apreciate it. That was my problem, I was editing the one at C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME\DMDext. Ialso found a really great video on YouTube about this.

For Black Knight using the ROM bk_14 just copy paste the following code to the end of the dmddevice.ini file at C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME

[bk_14]
alphanumeric enabled = false
virtualdmd enabled = false

and same thing for Dungeons and Dragons only change the ROM name to dungdrag

[dungdrag]
alphanumeric enabled = false
virtualdmd enabled = false

if you are using the fulldmd, it has a built in alphanumeric dmd, thats why you set both to false. If you aren't using the fulldmd, you should set alphanumeric enabled = true and then place the dmd's where you want the, and hit save.

Thanks in advance for help.

I just installed Black Knight (Williams 1980) with the full dmd in my cab. I have a problem where I have the alphanumeric dmd showing up with the default dmd showing up over top of it. Was just wondering if anyone else encountered this and how to fix it? I would like just the alphanumeric DMD from the full dmd to show up.

Edit: I just noticed this problem occurs on the Dungeons and Dragons table also.

I have been looking around in here for a while and I believe I found the answer here: https://www.vpforums...showtopic=49001

I believe I need to edit my dmddevice.ini file and include the lines:

[bk_14]
alphanumeric enabled = false
virtualdmd enabled = false

My problem is there is more than one dmddevice.ini file on my pincab. I used baller installer. I did try editing the file in DMDext, but it didn't have any effect. So either that's the wrong file or my code isn't right. The two dmddevice.ini are located:

C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME

C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME\DMDext

Which one should I edit?

If anyone else has done this can you please share your dmddevice.ini so I can learn the proper context on how to do this? Please and thank you!

I'll go boot it up and try to see what you are talking about later ...

But for now ...

Not sure that is where your problem is, but if you wanted to edit the dmddevice.ini, it would be the one at C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME .

Alternatively, my guess it what you would instead press F1 to get to the vpinmame-dmd options, and disable the option that allows it to appear.

I like this table because it has the MagnaSave buttons. Back in the arcade, it was one of the first to actually "talk".
