File Name: Olympics (Gottlieb 1962)_Teisen_MOD

File Submitter: teisen

File Submitted: 12 Jan 2024

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Author(s): Loserman76, GNance, JPSalas, Pinuck, Hauntfreaks, Borgdog, Arngrim, Teisen
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1962
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

First I would like to thank Loserman76 for the beautiful work... wherever he is playing pinball!

small changes were made only aesthetically

small improvements in the playfield, plastics, lighting, flippers position...  I want to make it clear that the descriptions for the tables I'm sharing are "standard" for all, changes are made when there is a need for some adjustment.

version used, follow the link to the original table    https://vpuniverse.c...-gottlieb-1962/

B2s made by Wildman! Thank you for your work and collaboration.   https://vpuniverse.c...-gottlieb-1962/

Adjustments made:

- Playfield touch-ups
- cap bumpers
- added primitive to the base of the bumpers and lighting
- lighting
- metals
- screws
- new pov
- illumination of lost balls
- new backdrop
- correction of playfield lights
- target adjustment
- other small touches

Loserman Description:
VPX conversion
Artwork done by GNance
others to thank: JPSalas, Pinuck, hauntfreaks, Borgdog, Arngrim
in addition to the "standard" keys (typically "1" to start game and "5" for coin), I've added "3" as another coin input and "4" for coin and auto-start game (like I recall the dime slots generally were) to simulate 3 coin slots
when game is not in progress, holding down left flipper for about 3-5 seconds will bring up the options menu. left flipper selects item, right flipper changes option.
I've also included shadows for the ball and flippers. If you want to turn them off look for these lines at the beginning of the script:
Const ShadowFlippersOn = true
Const ShadowBallOn = true
change to false if you want either of the shadows not showing on your tables

Hi Teisen,

i love your modifications of Jeff's EM tables !

For Olympics1962 Mustang1961 did a nice update in 2022, too.

With united force ;-) me and he did some dof updates for this table, in script and dof online config. Mainly concerning the dof numbers

It would be very nice, if you maybe could compare the "dof things" in the given script (with working dof) and your script; and as highlight maybe you could do an update with these dof values of your table and reupload it (or maybe first let me be a "betatester" for it )

Here i placed the modificated vbs (script of Mustangs mod with my dof changes)

at the first part of script are remarks of all used dof numbers and their related objects/toys

https://drive.google...?usp=drive_link

best regards

Karl

Karl, thank you for the compliment and for the work done in partnership with Christian!

In relation to this table, and others already updated by other friends, I always think a lot about whether I will actually do the "update" precisely because there is already a version as good as Loserman's original...

I end up not asking for authorization to modify these already updated tables mainly for two reasons, the first is, in a way, taking for myself the hard work that has already been done by the real creators, this is not cool. The second is that my intention from the beginning was to keep Loserman's creation the way it was done, just trying to beautify his tables, if that's possible!

I believe that the work I'm doing is for those who like Loserman's tables, how they play and behave, and understand that the aesthetic changes I make make sense (which is to make it as similar as possible to a real table).

I would really like to help in the following sense... Any colleague gets in touch and says "I'm updating this table, would you like to do an aesthetic update in partnership?" or else, as already happened with Mustang, I updated the Circus table (Bally) and he asked me if he could use it for more updates and I promptly said yes, that's what I want most... that at some point the Loserman tables that I made these updates can serve as a basis for even better development!

I have many updated tables from different creators, but out of respect I do not share them because they are "active" and I understand that it is not correct to make any changes...

I've already written too much... hahaha

If it's easy for you and Mustang, which I'm sure it is... you can take this update I made and fix the DOF settings and whatever else you need and release the version as Mustang 1.0e... I'd be honored! and I will definitely have your version running in my cabin...

hugs

Hi Teisen,
no problem at all.
Of course I can and will modify your table script with the right DOF values. Only for my personal use, because imho this is not a mod or anything like that. Only very small corrections for my own cab.
For anyones possible pleasure I can host your table script with the dof changes at my gdrive when it is done...

Best regards (and patiently waiting for your next "beautifying" :)

I don't feel very comfortable making deeper changes to scripts...

When I do it, it's small inclusions...

If you just do a "copy and paste" then there's no problem... in that case, if you want, you can make the change and send it to me and I'll upload it as a new version, putting the credits in your name, it will be a pleasure and a great help!

hugs
