File Name: JP's Whoa Nellie!

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 04 Nov 2022

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 2011
Permission to MOD?: No

Based on the prototype graphics as released on the Whizbang web site in 2011. So this table have nothing to do with the Stern table from 2015, and it doesn't use any sounds or music from that table.

I built the table in 2012 and I never released it. I just thought it was fun to build it :) I have never liked those small flippers so I added 3" flippers :)

I have just updated the table to use my Rev3 VPX7 physics. And I added 4 players to the script.

Anyway, there is a more complete table at vpu, I just simply wanted to share this "oldie" with you :)

The directb2s was made by Hauntfreaks, I simply added the 4 players can play lights and the 4 players so it works better with this latest revision 4.1

Hi JP,

indeed a nice table, and with nice melons ;-)

I found one error (pop up when all balls are gone...)

I "repaired" the error with adding this line to the script:

Dim PlayersPlayingGame

and many many thanks for all your tables !!!!

Amazing recreation, thank you very much but it made me realize how mediocre this table is without the corny sound effects.

Wow! Thank you JP.

now this table is playable with the flippers in the proper size...lol I don't like the small flippers either, the game is very uncontrolled and the table ends up more frustrating than fun... of course this is my opinion.

Thanks for sharing

This plays and looks fantastic. Is there any way to add the music and callouts from the hauntfreaks version?

Thanks

Looks great, JP!

I'll get this added to my cabinet this weekend! :)

Thank you for releasing it at an appropriate time, and not back in 2011. ;)

Hi JP, really wonderfull table :otvclap:. Can you chek if Higscore function runs well please?.   I have tried changing the highscores to lower values and it does not detect if I exceed the highscore. Thanks for your valuable contribution to the world of pinball :love39:

Thanks! I have added that missing variable :) I added the postit today in the morning but I didn't tested it :) Normally that variable is in all my script, but this script is almost 11 years old :D

Amazing recreation, thank you very much but it made me realize how mediocre this table is without the corny sound effects.

Yes, the table is just a simple EM table with a few Gottlieb style "plings" :D

I remember when I first made the table in 2011/2012 and I thought "they are not going to sell so many with these small flippers", so I exchanged them with some old Gottlieb style flippers :)

This plays and looks fantastic. Is there any way to add the music and callouts from the hauntfreaks version?

Thanks

No. Not without a lot of work. If you want those Stern sounds and music then play the hauntfreaks version :)

Looks great, JP!

I'll get this added to my cabinet this weekend! :)

Thank you for releasing it at an appropriate time, and not back in 2011. ;)

I wasn't going to release it, but since I'm updating all my VPX tables, and it was this table's turn, so I thought "why not?". Maybe some younger persons will like a simple EM style table.

... and Whoa JP!!  Just blasted past 2 MILLION downloads!  Thanks for being you :)

Thank you for downloading all of them :D

I cannot get any b2s showing with this version, i tried a few of them and looked in the script but cannot find the answer.

Thanks.

I guess you can change the line 26 with Const cGameName = "whoa_nellie_em" and I guess it should load the older db2s. But I have not added any db2s commands or DOF commands to the table.

Hi JP, really wonderfull table :otvclap:. Can you chek if Higscore function runs well please?.   I have tried changing the highscores to lower values and it does not detect if I exceed the highscore. Thanks for your valuable contribution to the world of pinball :love39:

Just download the table again. I just updated it to version 4.0.1 with this highscore fix (I still haven't test it, hahahaha, but I'll do it now ;) )

Now that I see the default highscores, they are way too high for this table :D I'll reupload the table in a second with lower default highscores :)

And it is updated, still version 4.0.1 :D

(I added the cGameName = "whoa_nellie_em" so maybe the old db2s will work, and I reduced the default highscores)

And you you want to delete the old highscores then either edit the text file WhoaNellie.txt (in your User folder), or simply delete it :)

Hi JP,

for b2s backglass some more script addings would be neccessary...

not only a cgamename, but also using of

 - B2SOn

 - Controller = CreateObject("B2S.Server")

and for working scores and other infos at backglass also this (just examples...)
Controller.B2SSetScore
Controller.B2SSetCredits
Controller.B2SSetGameOver
Controller.B2SSetTilt
Controller.B2SSetdata

i'm so sorry - i know your intention just was to give us a nice present with releasing this gem...  and now you have a lot of unexpected work with it  :love39:

UPDATE

4.0.2 Updated 05.11.2022:
- Fixed highscore routines (again :) )
- added B2S commands to work with hauntfreaks directb2s

Now the highscores will work right. As I said, the script was just too old. I haven't rebuilt the script, just fixed a little so the highscore potsit will work.

I also added the DB2S commands to make the table work with hauntfreaks b2s, which he kindly has upload it here :)
Remember this table was something I built 10 years ago, so if you want a table that's closer to the real one, then hauntfreaks table is what you want :) But I like big flippers, so... :)

Thanks for the amount of work you put into this old table.
Considering the age of the table looks great and plays great.

I am already looking forward to the winter time. Then I will
start with the "Jp's Vpx10.7 Table update".

:) :otvclap:  :dblthumb:

It is really nice in Calpe (Spain) :D I have been here one week now, and 2 more weeks to go :) Really sunshine, but only between 22-24 C. Perfect for me, as it is hot in the sun, and very nice in the shadow :)
