File Name: Metal Man (inder 1992)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 08 Mar 2022

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1992
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the Inder table from 1992.

This is a rebuild in VPX of my VP9 table, which was based on the table by TAB & destruk.

JP notes:
- It looks like the extra ball counter doesn't work in vpinmame, so I update that manually in the desktop version.
- the special light at the lower target never seems to turn on during play, it must be very difficult to get that special.
- the graphics could use a complete redraw (some parts more than others)
- the 3d objects aren't real 3d objects, just pictures, but they still look good to me :)
- the table is huge! 6,3Mb, 4,9Mb zipped :D

Anyway, if you know this table then play it and see if you can discover some more weird things :) And maybe some fixes.

Thanks, I love this table.

In other Inder tables we have commanded the extraball display with the same lights as the extraball,

the extraball lights on/off can be inverted, as in the tables of Pachecas ", for example Atleta and Corsario.

I can not upload the rom, I guess the rom in this site is older for the new vpinamame. Just go to VPU and download it from there.

Yes, I saw that in the TAB/destruk table, but I thought maybe that was fixed in vpinmame a long time ago, but it isn't. I see that using 2 lights you get just 4 numbers. I guess I'll implement that :)

UPDATE:

1.0.1 Updated 09.03.2022
- Fixed the extra ball display in the desktop version.

This is for desktop players only, it just displays the extra balls you have won on the desktop. I see that you may win only 2 extra balls.

When launching, if applied too much strength, the ball should go through the hole on top of the elevated playfield and drop to the lower playfield.

I tried to change the plunger settings but this never happens... see the 7:45 minute mark on this video to see what I mean.

Yes, I know, I have seen the video. I added a gate there :) The video is also missing the wire ramp.

Great table, but I can't seem to activate 5 balls per game when I hit f6.

Thanks again for these great lesser known tables.

I also found a bug where you have to hit 5 multiple times to actually register a credit.

I couldn't find a dip switch settings from inkochnito for this table, so I added the same routine as in Inder's 250cc., since we used that before in the old Metal man. But I only tested the extra ball.

So if someone want to make a better dip routine then just do it (I can't make those kind of routines).I'm a person that only learn the things I need :)

I'm not getting a score display. Is there something I need to do in the script? Thanks

There is nothing in the script you need to change unless you run a Windows rotated screen. Normal desktop has the desktop score, and the FS gets the vpinmame (or the external DMD if configured to do so).

I should do the standard first: delete the nvram is case it is corrupted.

Thanks for the update JP!

As, with my flipper skills. I need at least 5 balls I checked the F6 menu, changed it to 5 balls but that does not work.

So, I looked up the sciript and, with little luck, I managed to  change it so now you can set it to 3 or 5 balls.

Change line 769 to:

.AddFrame 205, 46, 190, "Balls per game", &H00000800, Array("3 balls", 0, "5 balls", &H00000800)                  'SL1-1 (dip 4)

(so basically change the hexvalue from 8 to 800)
