File Submitted: 27 Mar 2021

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Manufacturer: Data East

BANGARAAANG!! Hook Table Tune-Up by members of VPin Workshop Discord. This one was supposed to be just a fast physics update, but we ended up rebuilding almost the whole table. Added some Flupper inserts, Skitso-style inserts, new flashers, Fleep SSF sounds, latest nFozzy physics, some new textures, Ramp rework, plastics, VRRoom, countless hours of tweaks and testing.

  • Inserts: iaakki, Skitso
  • nFozzy physics: Benji, iaakki
  • Re-alignment: Sixtoe, Cyberpez, Skitso, iaakki
  • Ramps: Tomate
  • Fleep Sounds: iaakki
  • Lighting: iaakki, Sixtoe, Skitso
  • Plastics: Sheltemke, iaakki, Tomate, sixtoe
  • VRRoom: Sixtoe
  • Miscellaneous tweaks: Skitso, Cyberpez, iaakki, Sixtoe, Tomate
  • Testing: Rik, VPW team

This release would not have been possible without the legacy of those who came before us including, most notably, Javier and Dark. Thanks to all before us.

Thank you to Flupper for 3D insert techniques. Thank you to Rothbauerw for nFozzy physics. Thanks you to Fleep for sounds.

Fantastic!  I've played this table for years due to how fun the table is and wished upon many-a-star someone (or a team :otvclap:)  would take interest in it's features as I have and make it one of the greats.  (Of course other than 2D I have zero ability otherwise I would have attempted lol)

Well...this day is here.  We are supposed to go to home depot, bang out some yardwood, my son has batheball practice today, and I will be totally pining to play.  Thank you so much VPin team for this.

Great table. Only issue I have found is that is does not save my LUT setting when I change from default.

I have the same issue Itchy.  I asked on another forum and still no answer on it....  It is a pain to have to alter it each time the table loads.  Surely there must be an easy fix for this.....

Wonder if we could maybe copy/paste the LUT code settings from, say, a JP Salas table where LUT changes actually work and stay?

I used his LUT code, and only modified the key used and the amount of levels, and the lut file names
and it did work fine, so i am sure that would work for you

A bit late, but just add "SetLUT" after LUT section and it will work 🙂

All the Data East tables used a physical potentiometer  to adjust the volume, and not just a rom settings which could be emulated.

The only way to change the vpinmame volume, is what it is explained here: https://www.vpforums...tutorials&cat=9

Yep, I checked that page and https://www.vpforums...ials&article=46 and it specifically says it doesnt work for Hook.  Also tried the procedure on https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=38602&page=3#entry387332 and no white box appears.

Ok step by step;

Go to your vpinmame folder and run setup.exe

Click on Test

Find the Hook rom, select it and click check roms. All there and marked OK? Good. If not good redownload rom.

Now click on Game Options and uncheck use external dmd and check Show dmd/Display window, click OK.

Click Start and wait a second or two for the dmd to appear upper left of screen

Click the dmd with your mouse and the hit the tilde/apostrophe (~/`) key

The white box showing Volume should be visible now.

Use your cursor keys to adjust. Left and right = volume up/down. Up and down cycles through the menu items

When done hit the tilde/apostrophe key and again to exit

Click again on Game options and check use external dmd, uncheck show dmd/display window

Click OK, Quit.
