I'm working on the PUP Pack for this at the moment using Stern resources.

I've also got the rare table that nobody could find and modded the physics and the flippers. I may just rebuild the table altogether but wanted to see how it played first.

Should I continue working on this or should I just make it as a private project and keep it that way, considering Stern's finnicky?

It's just that I've seen Munsters and Guardians and figured they were floating by somehow. :)

Please let me know. I'm gonna continue working on it, regardless.

Well, you are not using their ROM, so technically it is a script based original tabled based on stern's Beatles table

i don't exactly see a problem, i am no expert though

Yeah, I'm doing the coding working from the modified Seawitch rom. Physics are near perfect especially on the top loop. Just have to perfect the bumper physics a bit.

Some PUP Pack stuff has been implemented. Got the clip of Ed Sullivan introducing the Beatles to pop and assembled an Attract Loop.

ROM wise, if i actually understood the stern table enough

and i could actually script good enough
I would probably throw the seawitch rom in the toilet (for this table, not for sea witch table)

and script it as close to authentic as possible

Recreating all the DMD screens will take some work though
Lots of videos of them online

not all of it is live Beatles videos or images

And i would probably go with Stern Inspired, original scenes for that stuff

then you are not copying

It's surprising me. I don't know much about coding but learning it as I go and using trial and error really has worked.

It's just coding all the modes that I'm afraid of.

It's a long way off from being finished.

If I put it up for download now, you'd have a working table with rudimentary, basic scoring with no modes, very little audio with a repeating attract loop during gameplay.

I DO have a few things programmed through PUP including:

  • The aforementioned Attract Loop
  • Ed Sullivan's Ball Start ("Ladies and Gentlemen...THE BEATLES!") with video AND audio which is an upgrade from the old table
  • The ballsave splash screen is now up and running
  • Game Over splash screen is now working

I also modified the flippers so the top inner plastic isn't so tall above the red portion, just like the real machine.

Physics have been improved with the upper loop now far more accessible. The ball no longer floats and doesn't require Jedi speed to repeat that loop.

Bumpers need improvement. Magnet lock needs improvement. And, of course, I need to add the A/V to the table.

Also, it needs new light sequencing. I want it to match the real thing as much as possible. It looks like the original table artist did a decent job doing a knock off but two of the three bumpers aren't lit up and only finally do so when they're hit.

Nah, take your time, ignore people asking for it constantly.

For the modes, maybe, when you got the basic table kind of done
spit out several copies

use each one work work out a particular mode

where you can work them out apart from each other

you can always bring them all in to a single table after you have them worked out as individual things

Might make it easier, with out other things getting in the way as you are trying to test the modes?

contact mfuegemann I think he may be able to help with the modes.. if i remember he had them in at a point but I don't remember it was a ways back.. it played fun :) cant wait to check out your version! My vote is go for as close to the real deal as possible for the first version then spice it up or change it up after as a modded version but that just my opinion of course do what you think is cool and fun lol

Just curious...What would happen if someone took JPs Seawitch table physics and imported it to this Beatles table? How hard would that be? Couple of clicks? Or more complicated than that? Has anyone tried?

Thank you sir! Figured...or else I'm sure someone would have done it by now. Not sure how such a cool table got stuck with such horrible physics. Such a shame.

I actually started with JP's table at one point but it didn't turn out very well. The physics ended up sucking anyhow plus the Beatles layout didn't fit within the specs so I had to move walls and all that. Plus adding the spinning disc scripting was a bitch. I just started with the regular Beatles table at that point, removed the EM drop target noise before each ball, improved the physics and went from there.

The only other table that comes to mind with that spinning disc is the TMNT Data East table and maybe a basketball themed table but not positive. I'm new to vp but now that I'm more comfortable with VPX and have my tables setup, the creation side of it is very interesting...but intimidating lol. Good luck with the project!

Whirlwind has some

Twister has one

X-Men LE

Just did a deep dive into old archived files from before my rebuild and I found my Beatles project folder it has like 10 gig copies and versions of files... I'm trying to remember how they went once I get it figured out I'll hit you up @tabascoman77...

UPDATE:

Swam through the mess I had and think I got it all put together and updated to the latest revision.. its about a GB with pups and what not. Has modes, spinner, top magnet... real nice upgrade... could use many physical tweaks and maybe better pup video pizaz but its rockin..

my intent is circa 1996 so it mite take a bit to upload to Dropbox but its going..

I love this!

Wow...you got the magnet up and running...and it looks like some of the modes have been programmed. And, for some reason, it's triggering my "Attract" playlist in my PUP after the "Game Over" is done.

This is amazing work.

All credit goes to whoever made it originally and then mfuegemann..

mfuegemann is a pimp.

he slammed the changes out day by day for like a week.. we were just messing with VR back when it first came on the scene.. Hope you can improve it!

if issues try the pup videos update I may have forgot a file I think I did.. links should work again just put the updates into your pup stuff if issues or errors..

I'm just busy smoking cigarettes and watching wrasslin so I haven't given it a good shake down yet.. I will in about 20 min.. if threes issues go ahead and post I might be able to figure out if its something I did wrong in compiling all the updates..

Other then that have at it boys if you can make the ol girl better Id love to see it! I think there are other modes and maybe wizard modes or something that could be added.. or newer more game accurate pin up stuff would be awesome too.. also some tweaks for flow would be nice..

Yeah, I've been studying videos of the machine and it looks like there is a Wizard Mode for each completed mode. I think the final is either "Help" or "Taxman".

It's aggravating doing the studying because most of the vids on YouTube have silenced the music from the table. DeadFlip has some decent tutorials and vids online that have somehow escaped the copyright detectors.

It's weird how aggressive the Beatles estate is about that compared to other music artist tables.

But, it's all good.

You guys don't take it so seriously but sharing these links in public will ruin this community someday. First a public link to Ghostbusters, now the Beatles. Even a torrent link with all roms.

Your asses should be banned here.
