File Name: JP's Terminator 3 (Stern 2003)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 16 Nov 2020

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2003
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the Stern's table from 2003.

This is a special version of the table which can be used with just one screen, both in desktop mode and in FS mode. It doesn't need any db2s. If you prefer to use a db2s with the RPG, then use the other VPX table :)

Although this is another of my "JP's..." versions, the layout and graphics should be as close as possible to the Stern table. The playfield graphics are from the prototype, with just a few small differences from the released version. All the graphics are very sharp and in 4k resolution. They are in png format that's why the huge size of the table, 26Mb :).

To add a little more "realism" I added a real RPG gun on the apron which you can use to shoot the targets :) Shoot the targets with the "plunger" key.

I added the "start tournament" key to the right maga save.

This table includes all my latest fixes, like the Arcade  Physics 3.0, materials, and a new ball image which I made for the Taito tables (they are under updating), which I think it looks nice both in desktop and FS mode :)

Enjoy! :)

Thank you Juan !

I've never been very keen on playing the other version - for several reasons. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy yours though.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

One of the reason for this table was for me to play it with one screen. So I made the RPG as big as possible on the apron :) I downloaded all kinds of small figures from games, but in the end I only added the RPG gun :) Maybe later I'll decorate it a little more, but for now it plays and looks nice to me :)

Thanks, JP, I knew you would do this one ! ^_^

And, very good idea to put the RPG on the apron

As you're a desktop user, for your information, I uploaded some new backdrops

Just a fabulous table. I do have one question. Where is the ball supposed to go on the left orbit? Sometimes it collects command center but the other times it just comes back down the left orbit.

Here is the Script, if you want to play with my directb2s mentioned above ...

Animation on BG is ok, something could be better, but it is based on the RPG from JP and Show you the Animation to which Target you Hit,

you could also aim with BG Gun, your choice ;)

JP you could add that because i added Options to turn on/off in Script on the top … Have Fun !

Great Table Version, thank you again !

Thanks, STAT, many people will like the db2s :)

I just implemented the same way as the original. I could have added a curved wall to always grab the ball in the whole. But it is not like this in the real table. There is just a single post, and a fast ball will hit that post and it will bounce back, it will not drop in the hole.

If you want to make that shot easier, you can always increase the size of the kicker called sw31b.

... yes, you can try to change that one from 40 > to 50, then it should more "grab" the ball, FYI

Thanks Stat for the script. I applied it to JPs table and selected the english rom. The RPG shooter shows in the backbox of your directb2s and it works but none of the targets hit in the backbox register.

The 5 target lights are blinking but they don't score and don't extinguish if I hit them. I'm using vpx 10.6 final.
