I am pleased to announce the Oak Micros fuse board, which provides protection for sensitive electronics and output devices using fuses. This is my third product and is a good complement to the Pinscape All-in-One or in fact any Pinball controller. The Oak Micros fuse board has 3 options:

  1. Support for up to 32 fused outputs
  2. Support for up to 17 fused outputs with space left for 15 resistors (used for RGB LED flasher outputs)
  3. Support for up to 17 fused outputs and 15 high wattage resistors for RGB LED flasher outputs (better than option 2 if you don't want to solder yourself)

This board is cheaper and more convenient that buying individual fuse holders and/or wiring in resistors for RGB LED flashers. The board uses the pluggable screw connectors for wiring convenience and comes with 4 PCB standoffs. The fuse clips fit either 5mm x 20mm or 5mm x 15mm (2AG) fuses. Documentation is provided in a user guide.

Here is a picture of option 3 that shows 17 fuse clips, five 3W 6.2 ohm resistors for red LEDs, and ten 2W 3.6 ohm resistors for green and blue LEDs.

Not including shipping, pricing for the board is as follows:

  1. 32 fused outputs - $20
  2. 17 fused outputs - $14
  3. 17 fused outputs and 15 high wattage resistors - $20

Option 3 with 15 soldered resistors is more because of the cost of obtaining the resistors and extra labor to solder them in. The values and wattage of resistors depends on the RGB flashers that are being used and the required current/brightness. The value and wattage of the resistors needs to be agreed before ordering.

If you are interested in one of these valuable additions to your cab, please email me at o a k m i c r o s at austin dot rr dot com rather than using messaging on this forum.

Edit: Corrected pricing.

Looks good. I wish this was available when I build my RGB flashers

Wow these sold out like hot cakes. I only have 3 of the full 32 fuse boards left and none of the 17 fuse variants. I have already submitted another order for PCBs. Expect an update at the end of this month when more boards will be available.

I have more of these boards available, now in all 3 variations.

For option 3 - "17 fused outputs and 15 high wattage resistors", I am using the following resistors which allow ~450mA assuming 5V:

  • 6.2 ohm 3W for red LED (forward voltage ~2.2V)
  • 3.6 ohm 2W for green/blue LEDs (forward voltage ~3.3V)

I was recently asked to provide a fuse board option 3 to support lower power (1W) flasher LEDs. These resistors allow a maximum of ~350mA assuming 5V:

  • 8.2 ohm 2W for red LED
  • 5.6 ohm 2W for green/blue LEDs

As a reminder the fuse board comes in 3 flavors:

  • 17 fuses with space for 15 of your own resistors
  • 32 fuses (fully populated)
  • 17 fuses plus your choice of 15 resistors (I can quickly support 350mA or 470mA for your 5 flasher RGB LEDs)

The Oak Micros fuse board provides vital protection for both your output devices and your controller board. You don't want to fry either. The board provides a compact, neat, and easy to wire solution. No more hanging fuse cartridges or cumbersome DIY fuse boards.

I produced 61 of these boards. This product has now reached end of life and is replaced by the Fuse and Resistor Board MK II.
