File Name: League Champ - Williams 1996

File Submitter: rascal

File Submitted: 08 Sep 2019

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): Rascal
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1996
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is a VPX recreation of a 1996 Williams League Champ Shuffle Alley Bowler. It needs the rom "lc_11.zip" to run. This is a complete remake by me, not a conversion. Started from scratch.

Thanks to roccodimarco for his League Champ hood panel image.

Flippers move arm left and right. Analog and digital plunger pulls the arm forwards and backwards and starts angle rotation.

Left Magna key for the game selection.

Where does this strange black box comes from?

At first i thought it's a text box, but it's not.

When i disable the b2s, it's gone.

I can't recreate this issue, so I am not sure. I'm using vp10.6 beta, the latest and the latest vpinmame. Has anyone else run into this? There is a textbox on the backglass for the desktop view which is supposed to become invisible when in fullscreen view. The textbox displays the DMD when in desktop view. That doesn't seem to be the issue, because it would be displaying the DMD if it was visible and not be black, but you could unlock it and move it off to the side if you think this might be the problem and never plan to play it in desktop mode. Image shows the location of the textbox, its named DMD. Once you select it, right click and unlock, then drag it to the side where I have the second red arrow.

Expect a revision shortly guys. I'm not happy with the switch hits on the pins. It seems way too easy to get strikes. I'm going to try a different method.

As i wrote in my first posting, at first i suspected it is a text box, but it's not. In fact, when i look to the editor views, neither in table nor in backglass view there isn't any element at this position.

Maybe you're right, and it's a VPX or VPinMame version problem.

I just discovered that this mysterious black thing disappears when i check "Force exclusive Fullscreen Mode" in the Video/Graphic options. On my test PC this isn't checked, but on my cabinet setup it is, so whatever the reason for this glitch is, i won't see it in my cab setup.

Regarding the game: This is really something else, and the added arm is a good idea and a technical marvel.

Well, I'm glad you figured it out and thanks for the nods.

Thank you for this.

This is very cool. I have to agree though, it is a bit easy

Nice job on all the bowling games
@rascal - Were you giving some thought to do and the other bowling games that are similar to these that are done in V9?

I don't even have a virtual cab, so the b2s mods are up to you guys. Also, I have just released like 9 bowlers for vpx including the ones that were made in vp9. Feel free to mod them and release them as you like.

I was having a little fun with the back glass and thought I would share the Pictures

@rascal - I guess I was referring to this bowling game

Oh I see, we'll see, I might get that far with this. That one might work as a vp9 to vpx conversion. I actually made that guy a model when I did that table, but only to take pictures for the animation (primitives in vp wasn't invented yet when I made that). Now I can dig up that model and actually use it.
