I managed to get a few Visual Pinball 9 tables to work, but unfortunately I'm not satisfied with the way Nudging seems to work. I expect the ball to suddenly jolt in a specific direction, but I get what feels more like ball control. Moving the right joystick makes the ball slow down until it moves depending on where I move the stick, and I don't even any tilt warnings.

I would've used the D-Pad, but I can't assign it to any controls. I can do it with the buttons, and can even assign the left joystick's Y & X Axis for nudging, as well as the Z axis of one of my triggers for the plunger. Unfortunately, as you may be able to tell, I don't like the way nudging currently works.

Can anyone help me with setting up Nudging so that it feels more like the ball gets suddenly jolted instead of being controlled freely?

This is basically a necromancy but since it comes up in Google when I am looking for the same solution, here goes!

Enable Analog Nudge. If you want the left joystick to nudge, leave the X axis and Y axis settings alone. If you want the Right stick to nudge, set to rX and rY.

You can leave the max and gain of each axis alone.

Then turn your deadzone up to 90% or higher/lower to your taste. Bam. Done.

You can still give it a good, hard nudge but it's not like ball control anymore.
