I see that lot of backglasses have a speaker and DMD grill. Is that DMD grill supposed to work or is it just for show? I know it can be hidden but I want to make sure I am using it right.

Am I supposed to position my virtual DMD screen over it?

Thanks

The Speaker Grill on the Backglass is for looks only.  However, in most all cases it looks better if you HIDE the speaker grill.  Because of software interaction problems with PinMAME and Pinball X, the DMD will not stay on the backglass where you position it after you restart the game.  Therefore, you have to place the DMD on the pinball main playfield and resize it accordingly or purchase and install a separate DMD (LCD, etc...).

If you have a 3 monitor setup, then you should define the DMD size and location in your screenres.txt file.  This will automatically hide the DMD/speaker area for you.

If you have a 2 monitor setup, then the DMD size and location in your screenres.txt file should be all zeros.  This will automatically show the DMD/speaker area for you.  You will have to move the vPinmame DMD over to the blank DMD area and size appropriately

If you have trouble with the DMD not staying on the backglass on every restart, press F1 and make sure "cabinet mode" is enabled, so the DMD will remember the location
