File Name: JP's Transformers (Stern 2011)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 14 Jul 2018

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2011
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the Stern table Transformers Pro from 2011.
Playfield & plastics all redrawn by me.
Thanks to ROM/Slamt1lt for letting me use their models from their FP table.
The table uses the Pro version of the rom. Download it from Stern's web site and rename it to tf_180.zip

Notes:
The table's layout and the playfield graphics should be as close as possible to the Stern's table. The plastics images are only similar. There is an option in the script to use Wire ramps, if you prefer that look.

I also changed Megatron figure using a robot model, and I also changed some flashers from the original table.

The gameplay is as close as possible as to what I have seen in the papa video. Even the ramp hits using a back flip can be done, both left and right. They are difficult shots, but they can be done.

So, full gameplay, but a little different looks :)

Now that is what I call a surprise in more than one way. First of all I was sure you where on your holiday. Releasing a table where you say it is not open to mod. And last but not least, knowing you have a private stack of tables. We will have to interview Carlos, put him up to a wall at gunpoint and force him to tell us how he managed that feat of convincing you to release :)

I think taking the creative route and changing ramps so the significant info from the playfield is seen is more important to have it realistic. So, thank you for taking that route. Transformers is one of the Stern I haven't played much so I'm looking forward to study papa videos and learn the game. Tables go from being just fun to become addiction that way.

So, thank you Carlos for convincing JP to release, and of course the biggest thanks goes to you JP for making the table. I've said it before, you are a true master and we are very lucky to have you here making tables and helping newcomers and senior members when ever you can. I can not thank you enough JP for what you do !

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Thanks batch and Thalamus for your comments :D

Sometimes I feel my techniques start to be getting old. There has been a lot of changes in VPX and vpinmame, although I follow the VPX changes, and I must confess I don't follow much the changes in vpinmame since mostly they are discussed on other sites, and I'm not much of a "forums guy". But one day I'll update my tables, maybe in 2019 :)

Today is my first day of holidays, at last! :) Tuesday I'll go on a cruise in the Mediterranean without internet, 2 weeks to simply relax and enjoy life :) So if there are anything to fix I'll do that when I come back :)

And just to give you an idea of the work involved in making the playfield, here you have the photoshop file, with all its layers :) And yes, I use photoshop, no vector graphics here :)

I have learned Photoshop myself, so it is a complete mess :) But it was a lot of fun to make :)

And yes, the playfield and plastics in the table are real 4k :D

Just had a fast round of Transformers before I have to rush over the border to Sweden and stock up on "snus".

Old technique or not - I enjoy these tables of yours as much if not more as the one you are comparing them to.

Enjoy your holiday my friend, and I hope your having a blast.

I have uploaded a new zip file without the ' in the zip filename. It is the same table. Only the zip name has changed :) In my computer when I downloaded the table, the zip file was renamed like this: JP's Transformers 1.0.0.zip and that looks terrible and it can confuse some unpackers, like winrar.

Cool build, JP. Thanks for sharing it. I always pass this one up at our local pinball dive because I don't know what is going on but now I'm out of excuses. Time to learn the rules and dig in.
