Been doing a notebook sketch design for my first table. Gonna base it off a favorite tv series that was before my time. Hopefully when I get in better health (possibly by the new year) I will be able to get started on it. I am choosing Hogan's Heroes as the theme. Finished a playfield design that I am happy with (object and playfield placement only) and just have to get pics and audio before the initial constructing. The table will be a 3 level table, 2 upper mini playfields and a playfield below the main playfield. If I had a scanner handy I could post the notebook sketch to give you guys an idea of the design, for now I will try to get the pics and audio together then start making up the rules and etc for the making of great gameplay.
Will definitely need assistance with scripting in the future after my table gets constructed and possibly help in getting the pics shaped right, but for right now I will be ok until I get the table underway. Wish me the best on this. biggrin.gif

I've always been a sitcom junkie and Hogan's Heroes was always a fun show..... Sgt. Schultz being my favorite character.

In decent shape at this time so I have started on the layout of my table in VP. The playfield below the main playfield will have to be scrapped due to not being able to make it to my satisfaction but will replace it with a backboard playfield like the one in Banzai Run. The backboard playfield in the initial design with be to the side of the main playfield until I am ready to get some creative help from other authors. biggrin.gif

I have a scripting question. I have kickers that I am using as scoops. When I shoot the ball into the kicker, I want to have a 3 second delay before the ball is kicked out. I have put timers on the table and set them for 3 seconds (3000 on the timer interval) and just need to know how to script the kicker to activate the timer and script the timer to kick the ball out of the kicker after the interval has passed.

I could have been smart, but I never learned anything by being smart!

Demo attached.... Ball goes into kicker and 3 seconds later is kicked out. I used the Kickers Timer, set at Timer Interval of 3000 and the box is not checked as that just makes the timer run at table initiation.

Thanks Bob! Used the example to make the scoop kicker behave as I wanted it to.

Would love to see a list of object methods (if I have used the right term biggrin.gif) put on the site that a person can use as a reference to do VP object scripting on their tables to reduce the time they would have to spend on looking at other's tables or to wait for a response to posts.

Here's one, it's over my head, I need examples or demos as I'm not really a scripter

I've seen that list before but it wasn't too helpful (or I am not looking at it right).

I probably should have put in this example to illustrate better what I am asking: Sub DropTarget.Hit()
DropTarget.IsDropped = True
End Sub

The "DropTarget.IsDropped = True" part is what I will be talking about here, the ".IsDropped" part (correct me if I am wrong here as far a using the correct identifying mark(not well versed yet in computer programming)) is one method that can be used on a drop target object. I am interested in a list that shows all methods that can be used on a particular object in VP. If the term "method" is the wrong term to use in what I have posted here, PLEASE CORRECT ME so I will be better equipped to explain things as clearly as possible so I can get the best help. biggrin.gif

I have seen this list before and downloaded it but lost it when my hard drive crashed some time ago.

LOL forgot one thing when I applied the scripting on the "scoop" kickers. I had forgot to script in the KickerTimer.Enabled = False statement. Ended up having a mutiball situation with balls being created and kicked out every 3 seconds! biggrin.gif

In the list you will find "wall" and a drop target is really just a preshaped wall. I think it's a slow process to learn all this stuff, unless you're a real programmer. smile.gif Unfortunately, the previous VPF disappeared along with its 8 years worth of helpful threads and posts.

Not really, if you want to use picture on the side of the target. biggrin.gif

Really, you just need to click on the control points of the wall and adjust them like the target or adjust them for how you want the image to be displayed. It's all in where you put the "1" and the "zeros" in the texture Coord box.

Making a change with the mini playfields. My original design looked good but in practice they cover a little too much real estate and the areas they cover need to be seen. I wonder if all table authors go through this? biggrin.gif

Got the initial objects in place. Doing a little gameplay testing to see how smoothly it goes. The 2 mini playfields on the bottom are experimental and may be changed and/or moved at a later date. The other playfield is set in stone as far as design goes but that doesn't mean that it won't change later.

Thanks!

It's one of those teeny tiny tables. smile.gif

If you create your cabinet on the backdrop with graphics, the table could appear to be way larger. Those walls push the table down creating a smaller view of the table.... But all is good if you're happy.

Did some thinking on my table design and am going to redo the table. Going to make it a widebody table in order to incorporate my original design scheme, including the below playfield playfield. Will send a screenshot of the early work in progress soon.

Here's the original design now that I had figured out how to get it started, will be working on finishing the playfield objects and hopefully start on the detailing. biggrin.gif
