As a fan of the Gottlieb/Premier pinball tables from the late 80's and 90's I was bummed to see a few of my favorite tables still not remade, and still in rough shape. These tables are, Frank Thomas Big Hurt, Shaq Attack, Tag Team, Spring Break and Mario Andretti. I know Spring Break is WIP and it appears that the Big Hurt has stalled out. I have very minimal skills, and I'm beyond a beginner at working on tables, but with my minimal skills I figured I would do what I can to help. With this small update, I re created some plastics, touched up some of the playfield, and fixed up the lights on the playfield to the best of my ability. There isn't a lot of resource pictures for this table that I found helpful, so as you will tell, the back of the table is still rough looking, and the side plastics are still in bad shape.
I changed the color of the ramp and the rails (more of a preference for me) and I was unable to figure out how to fix the skill shot. For anyone who would like to take a look at the skill shot its pretty straight forward. There are four lights (one is being blocked by the back wall and is supposed to be red) What is supposed to happen, is when the ball is ready to be plunged, these lights will blink from bottom to top, and when the ball hits the trigger, whatever light is lit when the ball hits the trigger is the bonus you get. Right now, all four lights blink at once, so it's always a crap shoot on what you will get.
Included is a custom made backglass I put together. On the real machine, there is a dmd on the playfield that tells you what position you are in, how much fuel you have and how many lap remain. However; the table is simple black where the dmd should be, and this display instead lays right below the dmd. I thought it looked a bit strange having this giant DMD on my backglass, and found myself wondering what each number represented, so I made with what I had.
I hope someone can further this table along, because it's a surprisingly an addicting table, which you can rack up big scores. Feel free to edit. Thanks to everyone who created and worked on the originals! I feel like the physics could be tweaked, and I was unable to figure out how to add the ball rolling sounds.
