File Name: Galaxy Play (CIC Play 1986) VPX

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 01 Dec 2017

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1986
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is the VPX recreation of Galaxy Play by CIC Play of Barcelona. Akiles provided the images of the playfield and plastics scans. I recombined the images and "stripped" the playfield.
Some of table objects have been created by dark and GTXJoe (screws, light bulbs, gates). The new backdrop image has been created by Batch.
Thank You for this.

Galaxy Play looks and behaves quite similiar to MAC's Galaxy. A nice feature is the two-stage captive ball in the center. The main goal are sequences that can be achieved by hitting all drop targets or making the right hole. Sequences mainly activate Extra Balls and Bonus Multipliers to be collected.

At the top of the script, You have some options:
- DimGI   allows You to adjust the GI brightness
- FreePlay  adds a coin each time a game is started

A DIP switch menu to change the number of balls is availiable too (F6).

The table is set up for FS and DT mode. A B2S is ready too.
The ROM file is availiable at tecnopinball.org (see link).

Have fun
Michael

Thanks again, Michael, this table looks really very nice !

I did a backdrop for DT users (16/9)

My DT settings

You'll also have to re-locate the lights a little for them to fit with the backdrop

Thanks, Michael, you, you're the Spanish table hero ! :love39:

I'm sure that as many others, I didn't realize there were so many Spanish pinballs !

And perhaps it's the same for some other countries ?

Hi Akiles,

yes please send me the files. The Kidnap ROM from tecnopinballs seems to work fine. And it is not even listed at IPDB.

Nice table! :)

Just a small observation: there are some walls that hit the ball with a friction of 0 and others almost 0. The ball do some strange movements when hitting those walls, mostly the rubbers that were copied from the vp9 table.

I wish you could like all objects in a table and have them sorted by friction value, this way you can see all the zero ones and increase to prevent "weird" ball behavior.  This is the only thing that I don't like about VPX.  some tables still have bad values in them so the table doesn't play nicely.

Hi JP,

thank You for the observation. I would love VPX to default the new values with some working values.

Edit: By the way, the default Example table comes with values near zero and new gates have them too. So we have to be cautious...

Michael

I use to put all the objects that hit the ball in separate collections. So I can select them all and change their parameters. It is very quickly to change those values using collections.

There is also a menu in VPX, in Edit, Set Default Physics. To use it you simple select all the objects and choose that menu command. Then you can change the ones you want using collections or one by one.

Hi JP,

this is a great hint indeed! The "Edit - Set Default Physics" even works if You have selected different types of objects.

Thank You again

Michael
