Has anyone else experienced a situation where the script button stops working in VP10? I just updated the 10.4 beta yesterday, and when I try to edit the script for any table the button does not bring up the text editor. I'm not entirely sure that this is related to the update, but this is the first I've noticed it.

Yes. I had it after a crash recently. Solved it by going to the registry and renamed the whole editor section. Not in from of a windows machine with VP so this is kind of guessing

\\hklu\visual piball\vp10\editor

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Hmm, not sure if I ran into this or not because I switch from 1 monitor to 2 monitor config all the time with my laptop...

If you click script and it does not show, try pressing the Windows key + Left arrow (or Right arrow) to see if the script window re-appears

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I'm not at the machine, but I did check the registry at my test PC and I found the entry you mentioned. I'll check it out when I'm back in front of it. I'll also try the Windows key and see if it brings it back up. Thanks again for the help.

I have the exact same problem.  I have a new laptop and have been writing script for my new VPX Capersville table with no problems.  I opened up VPX last night and the table ran fine but when I tried to open up the script it opens a window that cannot be made active and shows only the desktop background when you hover over it.  I tried reinstalling VP 10.4 beta just now and overwrote all the files and unlocked the dlls.  That made no difference so it looks like a registry issue from here...

Here is a solution to the problem that worked for me.  In the registry under:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Visual Pinball\VP10\Editor

The value for the registry entry "CodeViewPosX" and "CodeViewPosY" were both set to over 400 trillion!  Changing those to

zero allowed the script window to reappear.  What mucked that up in the first place is a mystery but I hope this helps others with the same problem!

I'm still fighting this issue. When I went to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Visual Pinball\VP10\Editor I didn't even have entries for CodeViewPosX or CodeViewPosY. I added them with a value of 0 but no luck. When I click the "Script" button I get nothing.

Try downloading the latest Beta version here in first post as attachment...

http://www.vpforums....showtopic=38450

You may have same version number, but I think that problem was fixed without upping the version number, so even though it may say same version as you have, it more than likely has the fix in the newest download available.

Copy contents of download to where yo have installed Visual Pinball. Overwrite when asked.

This should fix your no script window showing problem.

If it doesn't...

try gtxjoes solution...

Click on the Script button
Alt-tab or select the Script window from the taskbar
Press Windows key + Left Arrow and you should see it appear on the screen now.

Info found here..

Hope this helps you.

This advice rescued me from madness yet again tonight. Thanks, gtxjoe!

Thank you very much! Same situation and same solution.

I have re-turned on the PC after dinner and the script window appears as an icon in the Windows bar, but I can not expand it normally, I can only expand it to full screen, not resizable or movable.

The setting of the position in the registry must be done with VPX closed, or it will not be successful.
