A normal Windows 7 system restore deletes vpx files that were done since the rollback date, but it does not delete vpt files. Somehow Windows thinks vpx files must be like exe files & deletes them. At least that's what my system does.

 

This has happened to me a few times. So I  make note of the system restore date & when done go to back to the original ZIP files & extract the VPX tables again.

 

However I had some dropbox tables downloaded which were VPX files to begin with. So these originals got deleted along with the duplicates in the Tables folder. Bummer.

 

Also, if you made any changes to a VPX table & doing a restore deleted the file, going back to the original downloaded ZIP file would not help you get back any mods or tweaks that were done.

 

Guess I'll have to make sure everything is backed up on an EHD before doing a restore.

Get yourself a decent sized USB drive and run this fine free microsoft utility to sync your tables folders as a backup. It only copies changes from original to destination. Effortless and quick.

Mind you, its not a backup program, but, should fit your use case like a glove.
