Hi,

Can someone please explain the difference between the three types of backglasses such as b2s, directb2s, and UVP?

Also, what are the pros and cons of each and why is one more suited then another?

For example, I use b2s, but I don't understand the advantage, if any, to using directb2s or UVP. If I use b2s already do I need any new software to run the directb2s?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

-DAN

Uvp is older approach. It is a CPU hog so no longer recommended
B2S.exe came next. Authors had to create this using visual basic and compile it.
DirectB2s came next. Authors can create these easily using B2S designer tool

Directb2s requires B2S server which come with the VPX all in one installer or here http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=7426

If you have B2S.exe there imay be no real benefit to switch the table to directb2s. Unless the directb2s has a better backglass image or you want to hide the speaker grill

let me make things easy for you

go to the UVP download section and sort by release date.

http://www.vpforums....um=&filter_key=

you will find that:

- their has been 1 new UVP file released in the last 2 YEARS!!!

-their has been 3 new UVP releases in the last 3 years

- UVP pretty much died in 2013

B2s files are just as bad if not worse,  if you like to run  a UVP or B2s file for a table you have and can't find a file, chances are that you are going to have to build one YOURSELF.

Save yourself all the trouble and just learn how to run dB2s files.   dB2s files are constantly released and updated with higher quality images.

Thanks guys, that clears up a lot.

I am trying to load a direct b2s, but my directb2s are not launching.  I have installed the server app. I have met all the software requirements. I changed the script as directed from vpinmame controller to b2s.server. Still they don't launch. For example, I am trying to load the black knight directb2s. Nothing happens.

What else could it be? I have tried over half dozen tables still no luck.

I registered the server too.

Post the exact table link and directb2s link, so we can help. You should rename the directb2s file to match the vpt/vpx filename  Here is an example of what the table folder should look like

Ive renamed the backglass files to match the table files and they still wont launch. And then Ive noticed i have some backglass files with different names than their table file and they launch just fine. This is extremely frustrating as i have around 250 tables.

Right click the table file - go to properties - copy the exact filename. Now find that db2s you think you've renamed correctly. Right click it - choose rename from the dropdown. Paste the name in from the copy you did earlier. Now press 4 backspaces and enter to delete either the *.vpx or *.vpt extention. You can't go wrong this way :)

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.
