I'm sure this answer is here somewhere, but I thought I'd just ask:

What's the difference between db2s, directdb2s and UVP?

Is one better than the other?

Should I avoid, if possible, one over the other?

I've been playing my new/used VP and I've noticed that directdb2s will load (since it's an .exe file) but then it won't go away and will just camp on the backglass.  Anyone else have this experience?  Is there a work-around?

Any help/comments/suggestions you can provide will be great.

Thanks!

Matt in Seattle

It's more of an evolution UVP, B2S and now directb2s, which is the standard, if your just starting out and setting up just stick with the directb2s, the all in one installer should already have the backglass server up and running, most tables have one available, there are however a few B2S tables that have not been converted that are great tables and worth having.  The B2S table will have the file included in most cases, it is an .exe backglass file

I recommend you, to use Backglass Server: http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=7426
and the most avaiable directb2s Files, in my case for all of my 800+ Tables ...

Some Backglass Files are here, some on Pages like "VP Universe" or "V Pinball" or "Rogue Pinball" or ... ( Google )

Which Backglass dont go away at the End ? Table / File ?

Thanks, P&A Freak.  I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which ones I've been having issue with.  At the moment I'm downloading all the games I can possibly download along with their db2s (or UVP) counterparts.

Once they are downloaded and added to PinballX, I will test each machine.  I've just noticed, on occasion, when I get out of the machine and exit to the desktop the backglass is still "live" and the db2s program is still running in the task bar.

I have found a smattering of b2s files on vpuniverse but it's good to know what other options are out there.

My goal is to be similar to you and have, eventually, 800+ machines that all work well.

I've had the same problem with Eight Ball Deluxe. No matter what I do it stays! I have to back out and restart Pinball X. It's the only one out of my 130 tables that I have a problem with.

Weird thing, I played "Tales of the Arabian Nights" the other night and the DMD showed up where it was supposed to giving me the "Factory Settings Reset" message.  I re-loaded the game and it was suddenly in the back glass.  Then when I exited it out and played it again later, it was back where it belongs.  Go figure. :stunned:

Hi...have you found yourself updating the files constantly when there are updates to the tables and everything else? or once you have it working you dont update? if you do...it must be exhausting?

You!...Pull my finger!
