Hello everyone as some of you may know I was part of the team who did the most recent version of Data East Jurassic Park.  I would like to try to make a VPX update happen at some point but it really could use a better PF image or scan to make it truly worthwhile to update it so soon.

So if anyone can get a PF scan, redraw or pieced together HD images I'd really appreciate it.  I feel like an accurate redraw would probably be best since the other options aren't likely available.  The plastics could benefit from some love too but they are decent and I'll take what I can get.

I made tons of primitives/3d models for that table so it should be a fairly easy update in terms of the actual build.  If a good PF becomes available I'll comb over the entire table to see if there's anything I can improve on from the last time.  Better pictures of the Trex toy have become available to me since then so I'd like to try and improve the texture mapping and perhaps make a normal map.

I know I'm not the only one who loves this table but this is where it stands, it's not going to see further update until a better PF becomes available.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

Regards

Dark

The lighting would be so much nicer in vpx.
That table was a bit of a pita. To upgrade. But to go from the upgrade to vpx. Should be fairly easy.

Still remember that damn trex code, wakes me up at night sometimes. :)

So who wants a major redraw project? :P

@Unclewilly:  I'm sorry I probably contributed to those nightmares lol, but in the end we got it right!  A real VP wonder for it's time, especially loved the ball swallow animation in DT, you nailed that.

Having looked at the existing scan/photoshop merge uploaded by wtiger, I feel it lacks way to much detail to begin a redraw from.  In my humble opinion we would need another scan at a much higher res in order to get the black outlines right otherwise it's just guesswork.

The playfield that bmiki ended up using wasn't terrible in terms of resolution, it just looked terribly washed out especially in regards to the inserts.  What I ended up doing for the last update was I took the PF redraw from Francisco's FP version and married it up with the bmiki one.  The problem was the redraw had many inaccuracies and 'creative liberties' that bothered me....I prefer things to be authentic.  So I only took elements that were authentic and merged them with the bmiki PF.  I spent quite a few hours after that touching things up and making everything look like it belonged together.  The PF has fake lighting and shading worked into as a result of trying to polish the turd so to speak.  I think it maybe possible to do a decent redraw from the bmiki PF but as you say kruge, there would be a bit of guess work involved by the time your zoomed way up on the details.  I honestly don't know what will be the best solution for this and that's why I've started this thread to throw this out there since I know a number of people have expressed a desire to see this table updated.

There is a real JP here at my work. Looks to be in only fair shape. I can definitely get pics with the glass on. I will contact the owner and see if I can get shots with the glass off.

Let me know what you need.

As many top view HD shots of the PF and plastics as you can get.  If at all possible try to get HD shots of the Trex front/back/sides/top too, I have a few but I could use more to improve the texture mapping.  The problem is getting the camera low enough on the table to get good side views of the trex.

Try to pm jim5six. He doesn't spend a lot of time here so probably won't see this thread, but he owns a very nice jp and would most likely take any photos you would like.

I can get pictures this weekend. My JP is heavily MODed but I think the pictures will be good for what you're looking for.

If you happen to be removing/cleaning the plastics etc, any and all HD pictures you could take of the playfield would be greatly appreciated by anyone who would be interested in redrawing the playfield.  Thank you.

If you need, I have scanned plastics and a playfield (the playfield is only a photo but maybe it helps), maybe decals. Just let me know.

It looks like I may have an excellent redraw artist on board for this, once I have all the resources gathered and organised I'll be sending them his way.  :)

The ball is officially rolling now boys!
