A strange bug that I've noticed and it does not happen often, though often enough to be a game changer...exit and reload fixes it.

On occasion the ball just gravitates to the right, usually if I've just just had VP loaded in the background and not used it for awhile, then it can and will just gravitate to the right? I've found this happens with V9.9 all that way through to the latest VPX...

Do you have an accelerometer for nudging?

No this is just running all the tables in DT mode via keyboard the usual way most would use, no extras, even had it happen on my old VP 9.9 original TMNT table...which I'll admit is the only reason I thought mmmm...now this really does happen!

Hm... Interesting. I've had the same problem and attributed it to my Pinscape nudging device and haven't been able to solve it. Now I'm wondering.

You might experiment with adjusting deadzone.

Do you have a joystick hooked up to your PC for other gaming?

This is a possibility for me as I do sometimes have an xbox controller hooked up.  I keep thinking I have this problem nailed, but then it happens again.

I'm actually having this problem right now... closed VPX, unplugged Xbox controller and my controller with the pinscape in it... then replugged my pinball controller, restarted VPX... still getting that hard drift to the right that prevents me from playing.

I have already re-mounted the pinscape controller so that it is perfectly level... not sure where else to go with this problem.

Yes I do though it is only an old simple MS sidewinder game pad, seems strange that this would have any effect and then only happen at random over extended periods of time. Still I opened the device manager and reset it to defaults, guess I'll see if it happens again?

Hi guys,

I seem to have the same sort of problem. I use Visual Pinball in Desktop mode, with a keyboard and mouse and no controller hooked up to the computer.

I have this problem both in VPX as in the VP9 versions.

I tried experimenting with the dead zone, I even set the dead zone at 50% and 100%, but also at 0% and 1%, but these changes did not solve the problem.

It does not happen ocassionally, but al the time.

I experienced this problem with the Attack From Mars table (VPX) and the Flintstones table (VPT), but it looks like it has nothing to do with the tables themselves.

I hope that you guys have tips for all of us to solve this deal breaker problem, because the game is not playable this way.

Thanks,

Arno

P.S. To make sure the problem is not in the hardware we use, I will list the specifications of my computer below:

AMD FX 6100 3,3GHz (hexa core)(overclocked to 3,8GHz)

MSI Radeon R9 270x Hawk Edition 2GB gddr5

8GB ram (1600MHz)

Windows 10 pro x64

Hi Arno... no one seems to know why this happens or how to fix it.  It seems to be only affecting a small number of us.

You mentioned that you have no controller hooked up... the others, myself included, did have an xbox controller hooked up, at least part of the time, but for me removing it did not solve the problem in the long run (although I also have the pinscape controller).  I'm not sure if Steve is still having this problem.

Dead zone should make no difference for you at all if you don't have a nudging device.

You are saying that it happens to you all of the time?  Your ball is always in a hard drift when you start a table?  For me it seems to start randomly, not all the time.

I wish I had more information for you... I have not been able to solve it.

Hi Drybonz,

Thank you for your reply. Let us hope someone else on this forum can help us. Please keep me posted if you know what is causing the problem and when you have fixed it.

I will do the same of course, so everyone can benefit from the solution that will be handed to us, I hope.

Thanks,

Arno

Can you reproduce it with the "flat" nudge test table?

It could be the keyboard, since nothing else is input device.

Try scripting nudge power to zero.

I wouldn't help in my situation because I do have a nudge device and want to be able to use it.

Thank you all for your tips.

Question from DJRobX: Can you reproduce it with the "flat" nudge test table?

My answer: I tried this table, but I do not know exactly how this works

Tip from Shockman: Try scripting nudge power to zero.

My answer: How can I do this?

Shockman also mentioned it could be caused by the keyboard, since this is the only input device.

I tried another keyboard and this seems to be the solution. I have to check some more, to be sure.

I do not know why my other keyboard is causing the problem, but I do not have this problem with my other keyboard.

I hope this can also be the solution for others.

Thanks

Hi Arno... did the keyboard that was causing the problem happen to have any kind of a mousepad or other device on it that would use an x/y axis, like your mouse?

Hi Drybonz,

The answer to your question is no.

UPDATE: I am afraid my problem is not solved. I played the Attack from Mars table with the new keyboard for about 30 minutes and I noticed the gravity bug is still present.

So any help is still very much appreciated.

That is the really weird and frustrating thing about this problem... each time I think I have fixed it, it's ok for a while, then it comes back.

It would be great if some experts on this forum can give us a golden tip to solve this gravity problem. Although our situation is very different. Drybonz is using a nudge device and I am just playing pinball on a desktop without any fancy stuff.
