Thought this could use its own thread. To maybe help those who have never used these extra's for MAME.

This is In-Game Artwork.

Not like the screenshots.

Instead of seeing this when you are looking for game to select in the menu like snapshots, these will be seen while playing the game.

Adds alot to the MAME experience in my opinion.

Check here for In-Game Artwork files.

Download and place zipped files into artwork folder in MAME folder.

DO NOT UNZIP.

There are 887 files to download.

Download buttons are on far right of page and say mirror1 and mirror2.

and Star Wars...

and check here for "Unofficial" MAME Artwork..

Hope someone finds this useful.

I am not sure. My last update was 146 I think, so I have alot of catching up to do.

Pacman Battle Royale? Sounds cool.

I would love to build a MAME Cabinet and a Pinball Cabinet.

Definately in my future.

I agree, extras are always nice.

Awesome!!! You couldn't walk into an arcade without hearing Pacman sounds in background when i was a kid.

I like it.

Also here is where to download the UI and MAME32 versions..

http://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui/

EDIT:  I just downloaded both new versions and they dont seem to be extracting. Check post #10 for solution.

And if you have trouble displaying all these extras for MAME, or don't see the Tab for said folder on your MAME display.

Click View tab on MAME

then click Show Pictures

Now you can checkmark all the ones you want to have added besides the 3 default Tabs that show pics.

Some may only be seen through special versions of MAME.

MAMEXT or MADDA's MAME which include the Select and the Scores Tabs.

There are other versions of MAME that allow you to view

multiple categories of images (such as MAMEXT or MADDA's MAME) which include the SELECT, the SCORES (and the second also GAMEOVER).

Also download this History.dat file and place the contents of the zip file into your MAME folder where the MAME.exe is.

This will display each games history and info about each game. I think default shows it under Snapshots Tab.

This is seen in the menu while selecting a game.

You will wonder how you lived without this file if you never have seen this before.

It not only tells you Game Name and Manufacturer,

also includes trivia, tricks and tips, and all sorts of useful info on each game.

Find it here..

If you have trouble extracting any of the downloads from progettosnaps.net,

This is how I got them to extract for me.

Most of those files come in regular Zipped form and have 7zipped also inside.

It is these .7z files that are not extracting for me.

7zip amazingly is not extracting none of the files from that site.

I had to download PeaZip. Another free extraction tool. Find here..

http://www.peazip.org/

After installing this, I can just right click on the .7z files and click extract to new folder and they all extract.

Maybe my 7zip is an old version or something.

Anyways if you are having trouble extracting any of those files from that site, this will help you as it helped me.

EDIT:

All the files extract fine with 7zip. NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD PEAZIP.

I was just clicking inside of zip file and copying the .7z file to Documents, which is why extracting wasn't working.

YOU HAVE TO EXTRACT THE ZIP FILE FIRST, AND THEN EXTRACT THE .7Z FILE.

The artwork that I've been looking for is for the Tomy Power House Pinball and the two Entex Electronics pinball games, Raise The Devil and Black Knight. Haven't been able to find any of them. I just updated to MAME v.279 but the extras only go up to v.276.. :(

‎"Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. And you cannot turn away. Your destiny is bound with the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the Universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world, yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors." - Andrew Boyd
