File Category: VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): 32assassin,Javier1515
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1987
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

Artwork by Francisco666

this is a "completed" table from WIP table uploaded by Javier1515,
it seemed like he lost interest on the table
http://www.vpforums....ic=33172&page=3

most of if not all of the table was built by him I simply added what I thought was missing.

updates I made.
-reworked to code to something I'm familiar
- reworked the flashers, he had some unknown (solenoids not found on the manual) flasher drivers.
-added new GI lights
-added missing lights
-reworked the code for the lights
-removed primitive targets and replaced them with VPX targets.
-many other changes

PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the ball capture ramp does not work for you please read through this thread
http://www.vpforums....showtopic=32288

you might need to make some adjustments.  hopefully Javier1515 undated the code for that function, I did not modify it in any way shape or form.

After locking 5 balls, only 3 came out. When I lost those three, the two other balls remained locked and did not come out. No ball search either, so I had to quit. I guess that must be a bug (?)...

Awesome table! While playing the game, I was wondering where the JAM bonus was displayed during gameplay. After looking online, I noticed its displayed on the back wall behind the drummer. Not sure if you missed this when making the table, or if you just couldnt find the needed resources. I figured I would just give you a head!

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Link is corrected.  I just wanted to share what the backwall looks like on the real machine.

you can see from the description

this was someone else project that was released as a WIP.  I just added the finishing touches.

more often then not; something is always lost in translation when you do a redraw. all the lights have been coded and all the lights have been added to the backwall.

I been meaning to update this table  simply because I can now make a more accurate plastic ramp.

if I do I don't plan to redraw anything.  so the backwall will more then likely stay the same.

I’m sorry if I might be mid understanding this, but the back wall lights are in the script? If so I could just add them onto the table myself fairly easy correct? Thanks again 32!

So I made a quick edit to the backwall to incorporate the bonus lights, in case anyone wants to put it on their table, or wants to rig them up to light.

I'm having the weirdest problem with this table. I've messed something up and can't seem to get it to reset. I'd played several games without issue. Then I was poking about in the table script, just trying to figure out how some of the sound stuff worked. I temporarily disabled the rom sounds by adding .Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("sound")=0 to the table init function. Played a game or two. Then re-enabled the rom sounds by commenting that line out and I suddenly can't play a game.

The table loads and I hear "Heavy!" I insert a coin and hear the coin sound plus "Metal! Meltdown!" and then nothing. The alphanumeric display still says "insert coin." Pressing start doesn't launch a game.

OK, so I hosed something up. I deleted the vpx table file. Deleted the rom. Deleted the nvram file. Deleted the registry entry. Deleted the .cfg file. Re-downloaded table and rom. Try to play a game and I get the same problem. Can't get past inserting a coin. I tried downloading the FSS version of the table and it has the same issue.

Is there some other config file hidden somewhere I need to clear out to fully reset the table?

You need to add that Line back and change 0 to 1

.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("sound")=0

Change to

.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("sound")=1

You turned the rom sounds off without turning them back on and running the table before deleting the script.

Commenting it out after you turned off the rom sounds will not turn the rom sounds back on.

Add that line and run the table, and this will turn the rom sounds back on, then you can delete that part of script or comment it out.

Wouldn't that get fixed by deleting the rom, registry, nvram, and table?

I tried adding .Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("sound") = 1 into the newly downloaded table, but it didn't change anything. I still get the same behavior.

I do hear rom sounds (the Heavy! Metal! Meltdown!) as the table loads and as I'm inserting coins. Not sure if that info is helpful.

When you deleted the NVRAM you deleted a Pre-Initialized nvram.

This is one of those Bally tables that needs a pre-initialized nvram to accept coins.

Pre-initialized NVRAM files for Bally MPU A084-91786-AH06 (6803) and Gottlieb System 3 VPM Tables to accept coins

https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=1362

Download this package and copy the hvtmetal nvram to your NVRAM folder.

Or download nvram attachment here in post. Attached File  hvymetal.nv   2.04KB   12 downloads

Should fix your problem.

Its not his rom, its his nvram, so I adjusted message and removed rom attachment.

Its a Bally table so, unless you want to hand program the ROM you might need this nvram

https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

Edit

There is a zip pack of bally starter nvrams someplace here, but i dont remember what section it was in
but the above is a working nvram, tested the table before uploading it

That did the trick! Thanks so much. I installed those nvram files a year ago and totally forgot they were a thing.
