Robocop (Data East 1989)

Created by ICPjuggla, Talantyyr, Dozer316 and dark

This is a 'from scratch' build

This was a team effort all the way.
- ICPjuggla worked on the basic build, lighting and a bunch of other stuff.
- Talantyyr did all the graphics from scratch and vectorized everything
- Dozer316 did the scripting and helped out in many areas of the build
- dark built a bunch of custom 3D models for this witch put the table over the top..

Special thanks to the test team
- zany
- freneticamnesic
- Fulltilt
- theloafer
- gtxjoe

update: 1.1

arngrim added the new controller.txt DOF config to the script
I also adjusted the jump ramp shot a bit, hopefully it's a bit easier to hit now. :-)

update: 1.3

- added depth to the pf
- some new lights were added
- adjustments to materials
- minor adjustments to physics
- added missing parts (yes, I found a few minor things that were missing) lol

update: 1.4
- fixed the bloom on the ball
- added and adjusted all the lights on the table
- changed a few materials
- some physics adjustments (very minor)

Wow.   Awesome job on the table everyone.   This is one of the reason I was so excited for VPX.  I can't wait to see all the other tables that will get some much needed love.   If they are half this good, its going to be a great year for VP.

Thanks again

Many great releases so far on VPX, but this one just may take the cake. Thank you, ICPjuggla.

This table is great! I haven't hardly played any VP in the past year just waiting for a proper VP10 release, and tables like this made it worth the wait. It's like playing VP for the first time again. :D

To turn up the volume, you need to click your mouse on the DMD score, then click the tilde ( ~), then use the arrows to scroll through a variety of settings.  You can crank all of the volume settings to 100%.

There is a trick though, which is that you can't click the DMD score on the backglass, it has to be on it's own display (in PinMAME).  To get this DMD display to appear, you may need to right-click on the backglass, enable the DMD display, and then restart the table.

Ive been playing the heck out of this table--really fun and really frustrating. Wish it had one of those early drain ball freezes.! I saw a post from someone else just recently and I think it's called "freeze" or something like that. I looked in the rom menu and didn't find any way to implement that. I did adjust it to 5 ball play, however. And after extensive playing, I think the "jump ramp' is just a little too hard to cross. Not sure if the flipper needs more power or maybe a little less incline on the ramp. Anyhow--great table and thanks again.

Thank you for this tip. It is the same as in the tutorial for setting the volume. Unfortunately it is not working for me (maybe german keyboard setup). Can you please post the robocop nv file. It should contain the increased volume. Thanks!

Crank up the flipper strength just a bit. That's what I did. Still challenging, but doesn't require a near "perfect" shot.

lol that's the point of the jump shot guys, it's supposed too be hard..

We watched many videos of pros playing the table and even they couldn't hit it every try.. With that said we did the best we could with it to kind of find that sweet spot where it's not too hard and not too easy, the original test group all agreed where we have it is prob. the most accurate. Anyway, I'm glad you are all enjoying the table as others have said just increase the flipper strength or your copy if you want the shot to be easier..

Personally for me I like where we have it set as it's challenging and not too easy like the real world table.. :-)

In European keyboard, the Tilde corresponds to the key to the left of the number 1, under the Esc key.

Excellent work guys!

I tried everything, but it is also not working for me (german layout) if i use that key it only shows the global volume. in settings menu i only get with the 7 key, but there is no setting for volume :(
