I'm winding up my VPX Gemini build (are they ever really done?) and was looking for another project.  I like the 70s EM tables, Gottliebs most of all, so figured why not the very last one they made.  Did a little digging and found out no one had made it but Scapino had done the SS version of it, Countdown, and upon asking Kurt nicely posted his resources for his old vp8 table, thanks again Kurt, especially for the awesome plastics.

Anyway, digging around I managed to find some decent but not great stripped playfield images and with help from sliderpoint managed to stitch together a decent playfield, that looks much better imo than what Scapino was working with..  i was most worried about finding decent backglass images for the directb2s, but finally found some that worked out pretty good.  I'm just getting going on putting the table together and have my main images so off to the races.  Thought I'd start a WIP thread for this one to ask for advice and get feedback and encouragement as I go along.

Here's a quick mockup showing my start, actual images much higher resolution.

Now you're talking, BorgDog. Bring on the VP10 EMs. Excited about this one. Glad to see such an interest in EMs lately. The vinyl of pinball tables!

This one will be slower going as I am back at work summer vacations over (tech at a school).  Getting the images lined up and parts on the playfield.  Then the hard/fun part comes, scripting it all.

I'm trying to understand exactly what is going on here.  There are no normal slings like most tables have on them as faras I can tell, but there is definitely some action going on. There is a really detailed video on youtube that goes through this table, going to be a lot of help. If some of you wouldn't mind at watching starting at around 7:00 minutes into the video for gameplay and the action of the ball in the upper area where the drain is.  Is it just the rubbers making it bounce that much?  or a small sling? or what?  It definitely is scoring while hitting up there, but what else is what I'm trying to ask.  Thanks.  Watching it again there is definitely some sort of sling or something, but there are just not much for holes in the playfield for anything big, just a hole the size of a light hole.

here's the video: (how do you embed it?  i've seen it elsewhere.. looks like i figured it out)

Here is where I currently am.

oh crap, I downloaded Scapinos Count-Down Resources and I was doing a VPX version of it.

probably going to kick this to the curb since the artwork on this table looks to be better.  I had to completely rebuild the basic code since the VP8 table was built with Reels and no lights.

I still can't get the drop targets to work correctly.

Looks like a you got a good start there.  I think it would be fun to have both the EM and SS versions of this table, as there are some differences as talked about in the video I posted above.  I was the one that asked him for the resources since a lot does over lap, and his plastics images are way better than anything I found before or since.

@32assassin Did my question above make sense on what is kicking the ball in the upper part of the playfield?  Oh, and how did you do the attachment?

22 min mark of your vid shows the playfield has scoring switches only at the top.  Rubbers are just that bouncy.

Had some free time this evening so worked on getting those bouncy rubbers to work somewhat close to reality, and also worked on silly things like graphics, oh and a little scoring for those bouncy rubbers 10pts at a time.  Drop targets now drop as well.

Well, I've only made a couple tables, and only in VP10 so not likely to happen from me, so I would encourage 32assassin to keep working on his.

I wanted to finish this but I don't think I can

the only reference I have to do this table is Scapinos Coundown version 3

from this table I pulled the Lamp Ids

(top part of the playfield)

Count-Down bonus light = Lamp(1)

500 or 500  light = Lamp(2)

Extra Ball When Lit light =Lamp(3)

the same lamp Ids are used for the back glass

Game Over = Lamp 1

Tilt = Lamp 2

High Score = Lamp 3

Obviously those IDs are wrong, since Gottlieb prohibits the distribution of their manuals,  I cant  go to IPD and find the correct IDs.

I'm no longer working on this because I cant get the basic code to work.

I"m not not sure if I have set this correctly:

Most Lamp IDs

Solenoid 7 resets the Green Drop Targets.

Lamp 13  resets the blue Drop Targets  (NOT WORKING!!!!)

Lamp 4 resets  the Yellow Drop Targets

Sorry to hear that, was looking forward to it.  I'll keep plugging away on the em version, threw some lights on this morning, still need lots of scripting.

Totally understand 32. I too was really looking forward to this one, and I thank you for your effort. Borgdog, thanks for working on your version. Cheers to you both!
