Hello everybody,

because I was asked, if I may do a small step-by-step guide on "how to Setup Pinball FX2 under PinballX", I did it.

This is about:
- how to start table directly via parameter (without that "auto-navigation through PFX2 menu")
- how to move the DMD of Pinball FX2 to another screen
- how to remove the ugly border of the DMD and
- how to use Images and Videos for PFX2 in PinballX

It´s just a simple guide, but maybe helpful for somebody.

First I did this just in German, but later on I was asked if I may translate it to English as soon as possible.
So, I was a little bit in a hurry - please don´t mind if it isn´t translated to perfect English...

This is just a first DRAFT-Version... maybe there will corrections and minor changes become necessary in future.

Kind regards,

Jannek42

And - in case sombody is interested - here is the German Version as well...

Kind regards,

Schöne Grüße,

Jannek42

I literally spent 3 hours banging my head against this problem today. I was all over the PinballX forum, YouTube, basically most of the known internet.

Then I came here and found a step-by-step guide in 20 seconds....

I am dumb, but you, you are amazing.

EDIT: I'm trying my best to follow your PDF, it all seems really clear, but I'm only able to launch Pinball FX2 to the table select screen. I can't get a specific table to launch from PinballX. Would it be possible for you to post the PinballFX2.xml that you are using (I own most of the PBFX tables) for PinballX?

I had the same problem until I updated Steam...

Sorry, no time for further explanations right at the moment.

Hopefully this helps.

I'm taking the plunge.

I wonder if this works for the steam-less version as well.

From what I understand the non-Steam version is well behind in terms of actual program updates and launching directly to a table does not work. Would love to be proven wrong, though.

Hmmm, what Steam-less Version you´re talking about?! :hmm:

I just know the Steam Version...

Works well for me to launch a table only the first time; Launch After .bat is properly killing the DMD ahk, but PinballFX2 is not ending, just minimizing, and upon loading a second table, Steam is popping up a "multiple instances of the app already running" (sic) error window.  Is anyone else experiencing this, or am I missing a setting within PinballX to kill PFX2 upon exit?  I am already using the Launch After for the "KillPFX2.bat" file which kills the DMD ahk but strangely doesn't seem to be doing what it's name implies.  Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this!

Hey Lonnie,

you may kill PinballFX2 the same way like the ahk-script. Just duplicate the line in the batch-file and change the name of the task you would like to kill (it's something like "PinballFX" or so... You will see the exact name of the task in the Task Manager).

If you have problems I may send you the correct Batch-file later on...

Kind regards,
Jannek

By the way: it's named "killpfx2.bat" because previously it was exact doing this :-) Later on I've added the kill-ahk command and deleted the kill pfx command (because I saw that it wasn't necessary anymore for me).

...just as an explanation. ;-)

So once I dropped all my prior files and just used what was here I was up and running without issues.    I prefer having my FX2 tables in the main 'Wheel' so I enabled all the tables I owned. I also like the sub-wheel menus too.   Super awesome.

FYI, BigBoss created a cool DMD resize/placement app called pbfx2dotmatrix.  Makes moving/sizing the FX2 DMD super simple.

Please check if you set the table folder correctly in PinballX.

And please provide PinballX *.ini and *.log files to be able to provide more support.

Kind regards,
Jannek

Can't see that's any tablefolder option for PBFX.

Would like to send you the files, but I can't find any options for adding files. How do you do that here?

You have to click on "More Reply Options" - right beside the "Post" Button.
Which version of PinballX do you have installed? Current version is 2.02
