File Submitter: loserman76

File Submitted: 22 Apr 2015

File Category: VP 9.x B2S Cabinet Tables (B2S)

Author(s): Loserman76
GNance
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1971
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

**** REQUIRES VP 9.9x *****
'*
'*        Gottlieb's Orbit (1971)
'*        Table build/scripted by Loserman76
'*        Playfield/Plastics by GNance
'*        DOF by Arngrim
'*        http://www.ipdb.org/...ine.cgi?id=1724
'*
'*  Thanks to the following for their contributions (whether they know it or not!)
'*  If I have missed anyone, let me know as this table would not exist without the
'*  folks in the community.
'*
'*
'*
'*  JPSalas - gameroom backdrop
'*  Black - HS save/load routines
'*  Inkochnito - scorecards/instruction cards
'*  Pinuck - Gottlieb chimes and score motor routines
'*  Herweh - directB2S designer and tools
'*  JimmyFingers - rolling ball and other objects' sound routines
'*  GNance - PostIt and config menu stuff
'*
'*  Of course, the team behind Visual Pinball - without them, there wouldn't be much choice for playing pinball on a PC
'*  I also must include Black and his Future Pinball as I used tables on that platform to help in building my VP tables.
'*
The options menu is now available by holding down the left flipper key for about 2 seconds when a game is not in progress. Once opened, left flipper moves between the different menu items and the right flipper goes through that item's available choices.
This table uses Arngrim's new methodology for DOF/B2S configurations. Be sure to copy the controller.vbs file to your table folder if you don't already have one there.
First run of any table that uses this setup will ask you about DOF and what you have. After that, you are all set.
The backglass is a separate download, so be sure to grab that too

Thank you Loserman. NIce work. I see that Orbit and Outer Space are essentially the same table. Wonder why Gottlieb would release the "same table" a year later. Just a note--On both tables I have a small problem when I launch the ball. Pretty much on anything less than a full power plunge, the ball gets caught on the rail on the left. Makes it a little hard to plunge the ball to one of the lanes at the top

yeah, I started seeing that too. I think I bumped a wall out of whack. Be looking for a 1.0a update soon.

As for the "same table" thing, my understanding is Gottlieb was catering to operators that wanted Gottlieb pins, but couldn't afford the 4 player versions. By making them 2 player, they reduced a lot of the hardware within the pin and thus passed the savings onto the operator. Orbit/Outer Space, Jet Spin/Super Spin, Spirit of 76/Pioneer, Far Out/Out of Site are just a few of the Gottlieb tables that have this arrangement.

Very nice Loserman & GNance, thanks a bunch for sharing!   As for the two being the same table, I add them both. It wouldn't be preserving history if we left one out, and I couldn't ever decide which one to exclude anyway. ;)
