This is for those who have problems running VP on Win 7 RC, Win 7 RTM and some versions of Vista.:

1. Press the start key

2. Where you type a search in at the bottom of the menu type COMPATIBILITY

3. Click Next

4. A list should appear either look for the program in the list or click not listed

5. If the program is not listed click browse to find the appropriate directory

6. Once you find the appropriate directory click on the setup file again

7. Once windows finds the program and resolves how to fix it a window should pop up asking you if you want to apply Windows XP Service pack 2 or 3 settings to make the program work. Click Yes or Next

8. Test the program to verify it is working if not working uninstall program completely and retry

Good luck, CF1

You have to find the VPinball.exe inside the directory you have installed VP, and then right click on it, go to properties at the bottom of the context menu and choose compatibility tab. There, you must check the box that says: "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose something like Windows XP with SP2 etc...

For me it wasn't necessary though...which Win7 build do you have?

Precise: VP8 run very well, i don't have problem.
VP9 i have copied in the folder with vp8 and run but is not possible play because is very rallenty, first sound and after "bip test" also graphic, is orrible!
This only with harware rendering table disable.

VP isn't famous for its compatibility with Ati Radeon cards... sad.gif

Someone else here might be able to help you with that though...there are a few people with Ati Radeon cards in VPforums..

Win 7 are NOT Vista with a patch...they are based on vista but the whole engine is redesigned...

Maybe your problem is hidden at the combination of Win7 and your graphics card.. Are you sure that your graphics card is 100% compatible with win7? Can you check it somehow?

ATI cards don't do well with VP try using VP8 I have the same issue or buy a seperate video card with Nvidia graphics that will work too.

VP8 running very well, no problem!
Can convert the tables VP9 in VP8 or use VP8 to play with tables VP9?

No! You can only buy you a nvidia card! I bought a 9800GT with 1GB for 100Euro and everything works fine! Sorry, but I have no other solution!

I have Windows Vista and an ATI Radeon card. I encounter similar problems when running VP9.
Tables like Taxi or LOTR, for example, show some serious slowdown, especially during multiball, so the gameplay is choppy, the sound seems to go through some sort of continuous echo, the whole experience is not very enjoyable. Even choosing low resolutions doesn't seem to help very much.
But other tables apparently work well, like AFM for example, or Indiana Jones (but in the "light" edition by Destruk).
I still have to do some experimenting, and try other tables, though I'm not very optimistic.
Of course, turning off hardware rendering could be a solution, but the results are really ugly, so it isn't a really good one...
I can only hope this issue will be addressed in future releases of VP.
