So it's time to start a new one ...

Devil Riders is nearly finished and "Flash Gordon Reloaded" is more or less ready for release. So I looked around for the next table. I wanted to build The Incredible Hulk (the "old" machine by Gottlieb), because it's one of the machines that I played often during the "wild times". But as it always ends: no good material.

So I had a closer look at the tables that dboyrecords converted and Vector was really interesting. S1500 scanned the plastics for me, so I went a step forward, but I didn't find any good picture of a stripped playfield. It ended with the extract of the playfield from the table that dboyrecord converted. It looked like this

Vector_Start.jpg

Because I didn't find any better picture, it's the best I have. The playfield needs a COMPLETE redraw, presently this is the actual status

Vector_Status.png

Picture of the status will be updated periodically. This table will take a long time, to much has to be redrawn. So please be patient, if I can't release it within the next two weeks or so.

Looks really good!

We are going to have to have an extended talk about exactly how you are doing these redraws.  I think I could do  these as well, I'm just not sure how to do redraws as opposed to touch ups.

Very good pinball.

Do you plan to make a desktop version?

I'll tell you the truth: I already wrote this in another thread, presently I'm disappointed about the feedback regarding my desktop tables. Truck Stop for example had 170 downloads, but no votes. There was one post with a Thank You, but the other five posts were asking for support to get this table work in a non-physmod environment. So this tells me, that there might be desktop users, who download my tables. But they don't play them, otherwise they would have voted. I develop my tables as FS versions. So if I convert them to desktop versions, it's additional work for me, which is not worth it.

So no more desktop versions from my side, sorry.

I can understand you Sidbad!
Also...it is not that hard to convert a FS tabble to DT.....so it is more upto the users!

Well to tell you the truth, I thought Truck Stop looked great, though I didn't download it because it was for physics mod 5 beta software, which I have tried though generally don't use because I've always had issues with it, despite having very up to date drivers/hardware and software, maybe I will have another go at it, most likely just need to dig deeper and adjust driver settings and such, something most end users don't or can't do or be bothered doing. As for the otherwise they would have voted assumption, that's just not how it is at all, 99% of users download and play them and that's where it ends.

It really saddens me I do have, can afford a cab attitude, so desktop users are the underclass no need to cater for them, even though they are where our next great VP authors may come from and that which the art of VP was built upon.

Steve,

thanks for your feedback. I do not agree with your comment that the desktop users are the underclass. Since my second table Blackwater 100, I provided both versions. And most of the other authors did and still do so. And there are also tables, that are only released as desktop versions, for example the last Big Brave update. I understand that you are disappointed, and I hope that you understand, that I'm disappointed too.

You know, I'm a one-man-show and I have no access to pinballs. Before I build a table, I have to search 50 or more hours the internet for usable pictures and other resources. I'm really happy to have a very. very good test team that does a very, very good job, otherwise building a table would take much longer.

I was afraid of my decision would start a discussion, so I wrote down the time I spent for Devil Riders. Presently, it's 267 hours in sum and the table is not released yet. The only thing I expect when sharing the tables is two words: Thank You. This works with the FS users, but not with the desktop users, this is the fact. Sometimes it's only one hour to convert a FS table to DT, sometimes it's 10 or more.

So would should I do? The root cause for building tables is to have them on my cab. Sharing them with the community is my giveback, because I also downloaded a lot of tables from other authors. Converting them to DT versions has nothing to do with the root cause, it's additional work for me with more or less no reward.

So you have written your thoughts and I have written  my thoughts. I'll reconsider my decision, okay?

Because maybe I used the wrong wording, we should first clarify what's a redraw and what's a touch up?

... picture of first post has been updated with actual status.

The lower playfield is done. If anyone has access to a Vector and can take a picture of the upper playfield with the orange arrows and can send it to me, I would be very, very happy.

Looks really damn good.  Vector was the first pinball that I've ever gotten a chance to see the inner workings of... I wish I had the funds at the time to take it home cause I really do miss it.  Keep up the good work!

Wow, never played Vector IRL, but that's one great looking table, initially thought it was made by Taito but it's Bally's.

BTW your graphic skills are impressive, that redraw looks stunning, this will be a great pin for sure !

Ohh, and you know, if you need some additional testing........  :dblthumb:
