Buck Rogers by Gottlieb (1980)

Thanks for being patient. I was working on Truck Stop, so I didn't get enough time to build the desktop version of Buck Rogers. But here it is, the Buck Rogers desktop table. First of all: I'd like to thank the whole testing crew: The Loafer, Shadowsclassic, Arngrim, dboyrecords, naboodiver, gtxjoe, ICPjuggla and Fuzzel. Without those guys it wouldn't have been gone that fast.

So please take the time and read this before contacting me: This initial desktop version contains all fixes from the FS table and is now identical with the 1.0.2 FS version. This table needs VP9.9 in order to work correct. There's no right slingshot - yes, there is one, but without an active shoot-back- functionality. This is also on the original table, I tried to come as near as possible to the original. Please turn on sound (not tone) in the sound settings of the option menu (via F6). Otherwise the table does awful ding-dong-ding sound. You might find some bugs (as my tables always had in the past). If you find some abnormal behavior, please contact me and I'll fix it. Releasing the table doesn't mean "It's done and that's it". You can switch between day-mode and night-mode via the config menu (F6) - also during game play.

Credits go to:

Shadowsclassic, Naboodiver, Arngrim, dboyrecords, Fuzzel, The Loafer, gtxjoe, ICPjuggla: Thanks for all the testing
Luvthatapex: DIP switch routines
JPSalas: Lamp routines, flash routines, some sounds
Koadic: Plunger code and images
Noah: nudging routines
mfuegemann : sound routine
Uncle Willy: primitives and templates for bumpers, posts, slingshots
Zany: primitives (screws and stuff)
The Hunter: Thanks mfor the pics
all others: Thanks for keeping the hobby alive.

Permission to mod: Yes, absolutely - no permission required for using all resources of this table for whatever

Final thanks to dboyrecords, who's done the VP8-to-VP9 conversion and who encouraged me to build this table

Great job Sindbad.

To desktop users: many times I have seen posts that indicate, rightly so I might add, that desktop users are offered few new releases. Well, not only is this a desktop release but it's a quality one at that. I hope you download this table but also take the time to test it thoroughly and provide good words of encouragement via constructive comments back to the author.

Good work Sinbad plays a treat looks great though for whatever reason, I had to change line 66 to this to get it to work?

        OptionsLoad:If DesktopMode = True Then cController = 1

Also had to add this line to hide the pinmame SS display.

        Hidden = True

Otherwise I would get errors and the game would not start when set to 3?

Table has been set to use the B2S.Server as the controller. If you prefer to use PinMAME, follow the instructions from StevOz (post #3).

Nice table! :)

But I have a little problem with the yellow lights. I read in the rules that if you hit the varitarget all the way up, the yellow lights in front of the yellow droptargets lite up and when you hit the droptargets the multiplier increases. And the multiplier does increase, but the yellow lights don't light up, they are always turned off. I have taken a look at the light numbers and they seem right, so it must be something else. The varitarget seem to work since it turn on the right lights and the logic in the game seem right, but those yellow lights don't light up. Could you take a look and see if you find the error?

Greetings

JP

Presently I'm still in the hospital and I don't have access to my tables. I'll have a look when I'm at home again.

I found the root cause for the problem with the yellow lights, it's a logic error in the script. There'll be an update (VP10) as soon as I leave the hospital.

Thanks JP for pointing out the misbehavior.
