I've installed VisualPin according to the installation guide and everythign appears to be working.  Tables load, roms load... table launches, coin buttons work to drop into the game but the "Start" button will nto register and start the game no matter what I set it to.  Any thoughts?  I did a basic search on the forums but get a lot of the basic guides coming back.

What key do you currently have it mapped to?  I'm not 100% off hand but I'm pretty sure mine is mapped to "enter".  Try changing the key map settings from the "keys" from the 'preferences' menu.

It's set to "1" the default, I've tried setting it to other keys and it still doesn't work.  The flippers aren't working either but the coin and plunger buttons are.  Seems very strange.

I'm new to VPinball and this forum but after following the directions precisely on website and then again from the youtube install guide I can confirm this same issue on two different machines, one windows 7 the other a surface pro 3 running windows 8. I can load the table and add coins but I can't start the game. The two demo tables that come with the install work fine but roms from the site won't start. I tried remapping the key, that is definitely not the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im running VP 9.1.1.

can you add something to the script to debug?

where it reads the keys   add in

msgbox "Trying to start the game"

See if its reading the key for start.

Try restarting the table or make sure you have the right rom file. I have had this too with a few tables. If you click the script button, it will tell you what romset you need for that table. Does the dmd say restored factory settings and all books cleared? Over and over? I restarted the table and it worked.

If it ain't broke, it's probably a good idea to take it apart anyway!

I just post here to hear myself type.

Try to mouse-click on the playfield before pressing start (default "1").

Are you sure you have enough credits on the table to be able to start it?

I've had this happen a few times and I go back into the editor, preferences, keys and click on the start button and re-select 1 and ok. Go back into the game and add coins again and press 1 a couple times and it should work. After that make sure you save your work.

hope this helps!

The first time you run a ROM, it does the factory reset.  From there, you can push F3 to restart the ROM, you can exit the table and relaunch, or you can do some more fancy stuff that deals with virtually opening the coin door.
