Nice table Bob! I always liked Spiderman.

I just wanted to let you know a reason why you coud use normal lights instead of dropwalls in VP9. In VP9 you may map an image to the on and off states of the light. Only this makes it easier to turn them on and off, since you don't need special subs to drop the walls. But the main reason for me is that those lights don't get shaded, so lights that are close to wall with shadows they still look very bright when turned on. But a dropwall will be shadowed and the intensity of the light is lower. Just me two cents smile.gif

Thanks for that info JP.... I'm eagerly awaiting the unlocking of your six tables, so I can learn something new. smile.gif

I love the flippers in vp9.

As I wrote at PN smile.gif I'll finish my tables tomorrow, then you'll be able to see the scripts.
Yes the flippers are very good in VP9.

Another thing I like very much in VP9 is that you can limit the ball speed with just one command in the script. So if you add this line in the table_init sub:

table1.MaxBallSpeed = 60

then the ball speed will never be greater then 60 (you may use any speed you want). This way the ramps behave much better, while still the speed is very nice and you don't need to add triggers to check the ball speed (mostly on the ramps).

Thanks for the update on your great table Bob. After a few different days of playing I'll say the VP9 nudge is a helpful addition to the gameplay. Getting better scores now dblthumb.gif

It must be the flipper physics that are making you play better, because on this table, I have removed around 90% of the VP9 nudging capabilities, it probably nudges less then VP8, but I "have" to remove most of that sideways VP9 nudge to enjoy a table. I do need to add the "Table Shake" to this table, once I have learned how to do it from JP's tables. I won't update the table though, until I figure out how to add images to lights, I tried it on one light on this table, but it didn't work for me with the ROM on the first try, but I'll get back to it eventually.... Table Comments are always the best way to perk up an author who is currently spending his VP time playing PS3. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the reply, they are much appreciated. cool.gif

Nice update. I played a few hundred duels on the older version at VPOH, so you can tell how much I like your tables. Especially given my best tourney finish was on your Mad Mag table. biggrin.gif

Hi Zogslayer, The VPOH Spider-man table wasn't mine, it should be still available at IRPinball, since it wasn't a VPM table. I miss those VPOH tourney's.... Let's hope this place comes up with a cool tourney format. I'm afraid it will use VP9 nudging though and you guys will have astronomical scores with games lasting for hours. smile.gif

It's a great table, though I feel the VP8 version is greater. I think you should revisit those flipper settings, the main advantage I see with VP9 flipper setting is to reduce the swing arc to a more realistic arc whilst maintaining a good aim, VP8 requires a greater swing arc to maintain a realistic aim factor. Yet this VP9 table has as unrealistic swing arc as the VP8 version and come on I know downswings are slower then up swings, but the downswing speed is just unrealistic, if it were a real table I'd say the flippers need replacing.

Nice one, all the same bob, thanks. smile.gif

Ah right Bob. I think I got mixed up with the PC Pinball VPM tournament. That one uses your table.

Steve! I seriously slowed that back swing way down just you, since we have had discussions about it before, smile.gif but you must have never downloaded the VP9 version. I really like the simple settings in VP9 for doing that and still not having ball through the flipper (bttf) VP8 is a nightmare for slow back swings and BTTF. I would like to see some flipper settings from you in vp9 as you are a pretty good judge of these things.

BTW, here is a video with a cool camera placement and probably the flipper speeds that I am most accustomed to.

I added the Table Shake effect to the nudge on this table and updated the table download to version 2009a

Minor changes unless you nudge.

Hi Bob !

What does this exactly mean concerning the nudge ?

Is it better than the usual VP 9 nudge ? Is it more direction the "old" VP 8 nudge ?

You really can't duplicate the old nudge in VP9, the table use to not only move when you nudged, but it actually interacted with the ball... The table and the objects would nudge the ball. In VP9, the ball just moves in the direction of the nudge. This update only adds movement to the table when you nudge, it makes the table move, a simple parlor trick for the eye, the table movement doesn't effect the nudge or the ball in anyway. I have changed the angles of the actual ball nudge, from the default, quite a bit in this table to cut down on the lateral ball movement when the table is nudged to my preference only.

I wouldn't say it is better than the VP9 default or other author's nudging choices, that is a matter of preference and this is just my choice of adjustments or preferences.

VP9 was designed for a specific commercial cabinet or pinwizard controllers, it's great to have it, but it is not really an update to VP8, it was released as a commercial adventure, IMO.
