I've recently jumped back on the VP, FP bandwagon and I've now set up a nice 50 table configuration using Hyperpin. The tables all of you have made are incredible and a lot has been improved since I last used VP (at least four years ago).

I have had to tweak most of my scripts as I'm using a two monitor system. This forum has a ton of great information and I've done about 1,000 searches in the last few weeks.

Right now, I'm struggling with two tables that I can't get to work correctly in Hyperpin. For both Gorgar and Pinball Pool, I can load them fine directly in VP and both the backglass and table work correctly. However, every time I launch them from Hyperpin, the backglass goes black. They show up fine in the Hyperpin menu. It is only when you actually run the table that the backglass is lost. Again, this is only happening on those two tables.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Can you check the size of the background pictures and maybe resize them to fit your screen? If they are too big Hyperpin cannot load them.

I checked the background pictures and even resized one to be the exact dimensions of my backglass monitor (1280 x 1024). No difference.

I think it has something to do with running the table out of Hyperpin. I'm able to launch them without issue from VP directly. I also tried launching them directly from FPLaunch (v1.295 WIP 9) and have also had no issues from there. I also tried changing the FPLaunch version and that didn't make a difference.

Over the last two weekends, I've installed just over 90 tables (incredible selection out there). I'm now down to only three tables that are experiencing this issue: Firepower, Pinball Pool, Star Trek (1979 ver).

Other than to look at the glass as mostly full and move on, I'm not sure what else to troubleshoot.

Also, I've checked the settings multiple times on my system and they seem to align with the recommendations on the forums.

C:\Hyperpin
Admin Rights
UltraVPServer in the Hyperpin directory
UltraVP directory below the Hyperpin directory

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still having problems, but I don't think anything provided so far has been the cause of the issue. I have checked my settings, my image sizes, my directories, and my rights. I've currently got 176 tables configured for HP, VP, FP, UVP, and B2S. I'm down to six that are giving my issues. It appears I've got a little OCD going on for these last few as I've spent way too much time trying to get them to work.

Here's what I know:

I have 83 configured tables using UVP. Six of them (Firepower, Gorgar, Joker Poker, Paragon, Pinball Pool, and Star Trek) do not display the backglass when launched from within HyperPin.

However, If I launch them from within Visual Pinball, they work correctly. Backglass comes up, everything is fine.
Also, if I launch them directly from FPLaunch (WIP9), they work correctly. Backglass comes up, everything is fine.

It is only when I launch them from within HyperPin that UVP does not display the backglass. It is displayed from the HyperPin menu, so that, along with my other tests make me believe my settings are correct.

So, has anyone out there been successful ar running these six tables from within Hyperpin?

Specs for my system:
- Core I5
- Nvidia 660
- Windows 7 32bit
- 4 Gb Ram

Thanks in advance.

Success!!!

So, ALL 176 tables are now working correctly. I have been running a virtual desktop application called Dexpot, which allows me to have four virtual spaces to work from. I turned this off, rebooted my PC, and now my six tables that were a concern are now working perfectly. It may have been the reboot that fixed it, or it may have been the disabling of the virtual desktop software but either way I'm very happy.

In the end, here is the breakdown of my tables:

112 Visual Pinball Tables (83 UVP, 29 B2S)
64 Future Pinball Tables

Representing 123 Unique tables (53 duplicates that exist on both platforms).

Thank you to all of you who have posted various fixes throughout the forum. I've read a lot over the last few weeks which means I was able to learn a lot too. Very, very cool implementations and some incredible tables.

Thanks!

What monitor setup do you have ?
And can i see your settings, screenres.txt and in VP/Hyperpin?

I'm struggling to get my 2 monitor setup playable with VP/UVP/B2S under Hyperpin.
I had a good working setup under Hyperpin with VP/UVP but can't get it good with B2S to.
Then one or the other doesn't function correctly.
Take my advice, i don't use it anyway!

Primary monitor is 1680 x 1050
Secondary monitor is 1280 x 1024

Screen.txt file is:

1680
1050
1280
1024
2

Here are some of my checklist things for b2s when running from HyperPin:
- Use the latest version of the FPLaunch script (WIP9)
- Make sure your Screen.txt file is correct
- Make sure your script has the B2S code in it:
ExecuteGlobal GetTextFile("b2s.vbs")
ResetB2SData 0,49,0 'Initialise the b2s data area

You do not need the LaunchBackGlass command in your script as FPLaunch will automatically start the B2S screen as long as the B2S file name and the table file name are the same and that they end with B2S. Running it directly inside of VP will not display the backglass in this case (you would need to turn on the LaunchBackGlass command).

That's about it. It works every time for me.
