Kiss VP91x 2.2FS B2S MOD

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VP 9.x B2S Cabinet Tables (B2S)

Author(s): JPSalas, Westworld

Description:
KISS (JP Salas) with B2S backglass
Based on the table Kiss by Bally
VP table from JP Salas, Update 2.2 Updated 12 July 2011

With a fully animated B2S backglass.

Thanks to JPSalas for giving me permission to B2S-mod his table.

The backglass supports the "chase lights", which was first introduced with the KISS pinball. The letters KISS shows an animation during Attract mode, while showing the missing target letters during play mode ().

Getting error:

That line shows:

I believe that als should be true or false.

as usual change to False if launching from hyperpin. Not sure if using WIP9 if this is required anymore though.

Thanks fur the B2S of this fine recreation.
Sound keeps dropping at no particular point though. Sometimes takes ages, sometimes quickly. Is it just me, or is there a better fixed rom, or a fix for this. ?

Yes, I'm sorry, there is a last minute modification error in the uploaded file.

Open it in Visual Pinball, click on the Script button and replace the line starting with LaunchBackGlass with:

LaunchBackGlass "Kiss_VP91x_2.2B2S", true

if you run it always from Visual Pinball, or:

LaunchBackGlass "Kiss_VP91x_2.2B2S", false

if you run it from HyperPin

I'm sorry for this, I have no idea why the two missing characters got lost (I run it in my cabinet for same days before posting). Hope you still can enjoy it.

No, that happens quite common, see this thread:
http://www.vpforums....i...186&hl=kiss

I have had it sometimes myself, but only rarely. I owned a real Kiss machine in the 80s and don't remember sound drops, so I guess it is not the ROM but the emulation behind. The table script does not handle sound at all, all is the ROM emulation.

File updated to fix the issue.

I set it to 'True', by default.

The table looks spectacular, very glad to have it as a FS B2S!! Thank you!! drinks.gif

Thanks to Bob and others for helping me resolve sound issue (I wasn't getting game sounds at all, needed Bally Sounds "s3250u3.zip" added to the Samples folder).

Sorry, but there's one problem I'm having, not sure if it's the table or my desktop. The table loads and plays the first ball. When the first ball drains, the bonus score is tallied correctly. But then it won't advance to the 2nd ball. No script error or anything, just no advance to the next ball.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Note: JPs desktop KISS plays ok!

For people getting the error:
"I'm getting this script error:
Line: 20
Variable is undefined: 'B2SUpdateLed'"

please load the enclosed b2s.vbs file and copy it to your "tables" folder.
Attached File  b2s.vbs.zip   2.19KB   115 downloads

Sorry for this issue.

Could you please pull your plunger a little bit? (with a mechanical plunger, just move it out a litte, with a button press the enter key for a second) - will that push the ball out? I've seen with some tables that the plunger blocks the ball outlet. That was the only modification I did to the table itself, I've enabled the mechanical plunger (to support Mot-ion).

If that does not solve the issue, I have honestly no idea, I'm sorry.
If you have a little experience with table scripting, you could try to use the original table from JP Salas and copy the timer (that is the little icon on the left, about mid height of the table, named B2STimer) from my table to the original one. Then open the script and copy the two blocks (starting from "' B2S enhancement" going to "' End B2S." and "' ******* B2S to handle Backlight ******" till "' ******* End B2S ******"
to the original table. That is all what is needed to enable B2S.

The published table works for me on two machines, a notebook used for testing and designing the table and my cabinet. As it is my first B2S work at all and I have nether designed a table itself, I have no clue what could be the issue for that. If anybody has an idea, please share.
Sorry for that problem.

I just tried this table, it works great for me. You can't beat a JPS table and the B2S working Backglass is awesome.

On bumpers that are made this way, you can see the ball at times through them, just a tad, but it can be easily fixed. There are 2 walls showing a lit and unlit bumper, they both are drop-able, which can cause problems with the ball showing through them, Flipbook animation checked doesn't really work for this. I would imagine the perfect fix would be to only make one of them drop-able and have the one that drops just be a tad higher than the other. To fix this easily without changing any script for drop walls, just copy one of those bumper walls in each bumper (like the wall b1a in the top bumper) and then paste it, change the top height so it is lower (I used 54) then uncheck "Can Drop", now the ball won't be visible anymore through the bumper and this changes nothing else visually. Try it, if you did it right, then save the table.

That's strange.

To get a better idea where to continue searching:

Do you have other B2S tables installed (tables using another file named B2S.exe), which are using LED reels? And they work fine, it's only this one?

Or is this your first B2S?

Thanks for helping! :-)

I have many fullscreen b2s tables running fine in my cabinet, both older like Centigrade 37 and newer like Attack From Mars.

This particular problem is just with Kiss, but I also have problems starting Circus Voltaire b2s - it gives me this error: " Line 63 game name not found".

I have recently uppgraded to vp exe 9.13 - maybe my errors has something to do with that??

Thank a lot for helping! I´m really looking forward to see the KISS letters on the new b2s backglass!!

I solved the problem! :-)  I had placed the new b2s.vbs in the tables folder, but the Kiss table and b2s files were in its own folder, so it was not

using the new b2s.vbs, and that´s why I got the error.

But I still have the Circus Voltaire error.. any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you downloaded all necessary ROMs? Look at the VP script code for these lines

'************
' Table init.
'************
Const cGameName = "cv_20hc" 'home rom - with credits
'Const cGameName = "cv_14" 'arcade rom - with credits
'Const cGameName = "cv_20h" 'home rom

Here you need the ROM names cd_20hc.

This worked great, until I upgraded to the new b2s server, That vbs file does not work with this, this vbs file does not work with the new tables. How can you get both to work?
