Retro Spa

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VP 9.x Originals

Author(s): Brian Cox

Description:
Retro Spa is my tribute to one of the great pinball artists of the classic era.
The reference for this game is based on a widebody produced in the 70's. I've always considered this machine to be a flawed gem, with great artwork and game play, but made poor use of the widebody format. When I discovered there were original sketches that were rejected, I decided to attempt creating a standard size playfield using the classic artwork as reference. The game is new, but the rules are the same!

Sorry for the late reply, I hadn't realized a thread had been started on this... (and thanks for the nice comments!)

I released as FS because the backglass artwork isn't finished yet. There is artwork coming, but it's complex and could take a while. I don't want deny people the opportunity to play on their 4:3 setups (even with a black background) and I actually developed it on laptop using these settings:

Inclination 48
Field of View 38
Layback 0
XY Rotation 360
X Scale 1.1
Y Scale 1
X Offset 0
Y Offset 0

Feel free to mod this to your own liking for your setup, or if someone wants to take it on as a project feel free to post your mod for everyone else.

The one issue you'll run into in 4:3 mode is that the score is displayed sideways, but a little fiddling with the images and placements can correct this.

If anyone wants to take this on and has questions, I'll try and monitor this thread or message me directly.

Thanks all!

Brian

Brian, thanks for your reply. When you post a table, a topic is created automatically, so when you'll post future tables there will also be created related topics. You can be kept up to date about these topics by e-mail when you track them. This can be set in the options menu which can be found above the first post. I'm sure we're all looking forward to your upcoming backglass!

Hi guys!

Just wanted to add that Retro Spa won the "Best Original Machine" at the 2014 NW Pinball Show...

Hopefully this new category will encourage other custom builders!
