I wanted try play johnny mnemonic table i followed the guide and still i cant play it.. why do u make this so hard to play for regular users? too many steps to get it working.. thats why i always preferd future pinball u dont have to install 10 different files and roms and it still doesnt work.. i dont understand. its harder to get this working then anything i know of in computer games.

we were all noobs at one point..took me 3 times to get it right!!! i now it's frustrating but keep at it..also what tutorial are you using!

Mortuus, roms have to be loaded because we are talking about emulation here, a small price to pay. There are easy install kits that help take a lot of the frustration away. I can appreciate its not fun to have problems but having been around this forum for years, I can tell you lots of people are glad to help. Having helped many people myself over the years (with a smile on my face everytime ), I can tell you I have zero interest in helping someone showing the entitlement mentality you are displaying. "why do u make this so hard to play for regular users"??? I believe "Go fly a kite" is an appropriate response here. Learn to behave amongst your fellow humans and you will see this is a great community full of contributors.

We're all just regular users here, and glad to help anyone that comes along. Even the whiners and moaners..and as was said before..we were all NOOBS to start with...
You make it sound like there is a consortium who's only job is to make VP difficult to setup!?

The old addage is very true, especially in this case, anything worth having, is worth working for...This isn't an xbox game, you can just plug in and play, its a hobby that take a bit of cultivation for the fruits of your labors to emerge.

If you really want to play Johnny Mnemonic, ask for help, search the board, the truth is out there...or..in here...but its there...ya gotta want it..

I wanted to be an astronaut but I didn't make it. Why do they make it so hard for a regular person. Too many requirements to get into space. That's why I've always preferred working for McDonalds, you don't have to have proper academic preparation, 1000s flight hours, and pass a NASA physical and still may not get selected... I don't understand. Its harder to work for NASA than anything I know of in computer games.


Sorry but what doesn't kill you makes you ripe for parody. Maybe you should try a little harder to get VP to work or perhaps be polite when asking for help.

Ahh yes I remember when I first found VP way way back when it was just starting I believe its hard to say because I was only around 10-15 at the time. I found VP right after my first experience with a Twilight Zone pinball machine at a carnival that comes to town every summer, ever since that day I knew I just had to have my own version of this table to play in real life. One day I will own this machine for real I have wanted one so baddy since I was 10 or so and I am now in my early 20's my love and want for this machine is still strong today.

It was pinsim.org (now defunct I believe) that helped me figure out how to get recreations to work. The VP installer on this site takes the pain out of getting things to run. Emulation is not a 'brain-dead' thing so a little thinking is required to enjoy the games.

There are a few pretty descent you tube video tutorials out there that you can watch. Search for "visual pinball" on you tube. And like people have said before...just ask questions...there are always people in this community that are willing to help.

I think that is the problem. VP was just doing you a favor from having to suffer through Johnny Mnemonic.
Try playing a better pinball table.

Seriously, just let us know what errors you are coming across and we will be glad to help.

LOLOLOL....I shouldn't laugh..I know it, but...but..I was thinking something a little kinder...like...I think I remember playing that once..and..well, I don't think I liked it much..

But hey, at least they have a goal..and we all have to have goals...and once he/she gets it setup they will realize there are many, many more tables worth the time it took to get it all working..LOL...
No offense to the table author of JM..its not you, just the material you had to work with...

I will admit, my first time trying to get VP to work was a pain. VP8 still to this day bluescreens my Thinkpad. I think it does it on purpose at this point.

But now after getting VP to work on several computers, I seem to have gotten the hang of it. The trick is to have your ROMs you torrented/haxored/whatever and all the fixings on a network drive. Point PinMAME's paths to that on all your computers. One central file location of joy.

I think one misleading thing might be that the pinMAME executable is referred to as a setup program. When I think setup.exe, I think of a program that does an installation. You know,like an MSI file. A file that puts other files on your hard drive. If you want to run PinMAME by itself to fire up a rom for giggles, it can be a bit confusing. Perhaps have a "fire up pinMAME" menu option in a future version of VP?

i just started 2 months ago, and if I didn't have a specific person that I could call for tech support, it would have been a nightmare. The basics are still frustrating at first, because there are so many guides and reference materials, it's overwelming. I hear you. To get everything to run good, you just have to know where all the different files go. Seems there are 6 different folders and the XML file. Those are all key elements to every table you load. If you use the wheel too. Once you have those mastered. It's fairly easy.

For 2 months Ago , i dont know a thing about Visualpin , future pinball and Hyperpin, now 2 moths later i have mastered it. I have build my own Cabinet , and playing all my favorit tables
