PinJukeLaunch - Moves DWJukeBox to Backglass

Launch Wrapper for DWJukeBox which allows it to be moved the Backglass Monitor in a Virtual Pinball Cabinet.(PLEASE NOTE: This is not a front-end, just a simple wrapper to allow dwJukeBox to be moved to a different monitor)

DWJukeBox is tricky to load on a 2nd monitor as it defaults to fullscreen on monitor 1. If you have a virtual Pinball Cabinet you can use this simple utility PinJukeLaunch which is a launch wrapper which launches DWJukebox and moves it to the position/monitor you specify. It can also change the wallpaper on launch and exit - usually to display a relevant graphic in the DMD display of a 3-screen virtual pinbcab. In the video you can see where the wallpaper is changed between Pinball and Jukebox themed images.

DWJukeBox by Chris La Mantia and is available at his website www.dwjukebox.com. Fully skinnable and it can play a vinyl record crackle between tracks which really adds an authentic touch. No playlists, just a good old fashioned Jukebox.

NOTE:
This program does NOT launch Hyperpin and it is NOT loaded in memory while playing pinball as I didn't want to create any overhead that would affect performemce. It is like FPLaunch but for DWJukeBox. Therefore the way to launch Hyperpin from key presses on you cab is to assign a 3-keypress Shortcut key to the HP desktop icon, and map this key combination to cabinet button in IPAC. You do the same for the Jukebox. Although it would be possible to extend this utility to handle the launching of both programs, this would only create an overhead which is why I kept it very simple. I can give more info on creating the shortcut keys if anyone needs more info.

Thanks ced! I hope my video didn't give an impression this is a fully fledged front-end as it is not. However by doing some manual configuration with windows shortcut keypresses it is possible to launch and exit dwJukebox, and launch and exit Hyperpin from the cabinet buttons. The only thing this util does the moving of dwJukebox to the backglass (and changes the wallpaper if required). I updated the post to provide more info.

Thanks Chris - adding a Jukebox to the virtual cabinet was really just an after thought, and I looked at so many programs. Your dwJukebox program is absolutely brilliant and really feels like an authentic Juke - I have even got it taking credits fron the coin door . Hope to see you getting back into VP one day - cheers.

Installed and works great except one small issue.
When I launch from within Hyperpin, DW 'hangs' on exit while handing off focus back to hyperpin, and I have to abort the process in taskmanager.
When running outside Hyperpin all works as it should and I return to desktop.
Had some trouble getting the shifted key to work in I-Pac, but eventually nailed it.

EDIT : I noticed when I launch from desktop (with script) and have for example a notepad or explorer window open it hangs as well when I exit.
For some reason it doesn't like to exit while another window is open.
Weird huh?

I don't actually use Hyperpin or dwJukebox together and unfortunately it won't work because as soon as dwJukebox loses focus it stops running (ie: playing a track) and it will give an impression of crashing but in fact if you Alt Tab back to it I think it will work - I just did a test and it did for me. If you try to launch dwJukebox without this utlility in windowed mode and then click to say Notepad I think you will find it will appear to freeze but when you click back it will work again.

If you want to have the Jukebox running at the same time as Hyperpin I think you will need to try a different Jukebox software that runs in the background. You could still use this Utility to move it to the 2nd screen each time you launch it - in fact you should be able to move any application to wherever you want as long as it is running in Windowed mode. If you want to stick with dwJukebox it will have to keep focus I am afraid so that means one app at a time - sorry!

The shifted keys took me a hell of a time to figure out as well - easy once you know though

Thank you for making this software but its not working for me, the instructions say GDIB mode for graphics in jukebox config but when I use that mode it says resolution invalid. Its supposed to work for all video cards, anyone have a clue?

3 screens. 

Not sure what I am doing wrong. Edited jukebox.ini and GDIB and 1920 1080 for width/height.

Edit launch_juke.cfg to dwjukbox exe.

Created a shortcut to start pinjuke and it starts dwjukebox but stays on the playfield monitor. Fullscreen. Can't get mouse to work and no way to move it to second monitor.

Tried changing res to 1024x768 and moved the windows explorer windows to 2nd monitor and kept dwjukebox on playfield monitor at fullsize still.

Help appreciated.
