Hi guys,

I have a slew of mods that i have worked on for my own use, some incomplete smile.gif One is Williams Fire!

Obviously, my hope is this will be build from scratch one day, but in the meantime, I am wondering if someone who is good at programming could go through it?

So, the physics are pretty good, i have fixed some graphics, what i could with what i had available; animated targets... etc... but the ball seems to halt in places.

For example, when it goes into the left kicker, it seems to sit too long, etc.... I really need to learn what to tweak better i suppose, just little time.

It plays pretty good though, hardly halts and has some bugs.

I just am hoping for a working desktop copy to play around with....

Am i allowed to send this to someone who may help me? or is that a no-no? I wasn't planning on this as a public release, just for personal use for now- until i get more time to get serious with it smile.gif

cheers,
Maceman

Thanks for pointing out another table that I will convert to FS for my cab. I'm not really doing too much, but will get back to this thread after playing with it for a while.

There was a Fire sitting next to my digital cab at Texas Pinball Festival back in March. That was the first time I have ever seen one and it was a pretty fun table to play. We need a nice good FS version of this.

Well, nobody can prevent you from sending the file to someone. The forum just wants nothing to do with it. style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
A no-no would be create a post saying something like: "hey, i made this mod, PM me and i sent it to you/give you a download link".
Actually someone could misinterpret your post already. You will see how many requests you will get for posting this. style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Just don't disturb hmueck, he's already on Stargate smile.gif

I need to learn how to use this editor, I would really like to help.

For your mod, why don't you ask the authors of the table ?

Well, I have asked "Luv" a couple times for permission to mod (ie. Pinball champ etc..), and he seems to always says YES, but the problem is that I can never follow through because of lack of resources, so i really don't want to bug him for nought, if you know what i mean. And i am sure Destruk has better things to do than to help me smile.gif

I am getting pretty good at understanding some of the coding, at least for tweaking, but I haven't done any recreations so don't know that side of the coding, mostly just original stuff i can mess around with. Like i say, I need time to get into that side more, maybe by October/Novemeber when things settle here....

In the meantime, I really need someone who can fiddle with the table for an hour or so and make some tweaks that will stop the balls from "halting" in the kickers.....

...or we can just wait however long for someone to do a full recreation.... This is just a placeholder.

My forte is with aethestics/graphics, rather than coding smile.gif

So, i'll leave this as is for anyone who may have time now or in the future, I have this mod ready and waiting!!

Cheers,
Maceman

ps. I am not too worried about my request being misinterpretted. Most people here know my honesty about sharing unauthorized mods and such.... I am just looking for someone willing to help who likewise will keep it under wraps until/unless we get mod permission. I will PM Luv right now just to get a quazi-clear!

EDIT: OK, LUV PM'ed and said I can do whatever i want with this one, so technically we have mod permission if needed. Like i said, if anyone wants to go though it, it is up for grabs smile.gif

the kicker problem stems from the ball being larger in vp9
and since it's bigger it kind of skips over the kickers most times
instead of registering the hit
swap the vp8 kickers out for vp9 ones and it should work better

You could send it to LuvThatApex or me - AJ was the original author for this, but he passed it off to get finished and released it to the community.

Thanx Guys!

Ok, if you don't mind having a look-see Destruk, I would appreciate it. I didn't want to slow down your good work smile.gif

Luv has a copy as of yesterday and mentioned i could mod it or add it to the mod WIP section for others who want a kick at it....

Sending link via PM now. If I can find some good resources, I would look into helping update it!!

Cheers,
Maceman

ps. Thanx Faralos, that makes sense and something i didn't actually know!!

Hey guys, sorry for not replying... Still trying to find me way around this maze :)

@wool- thanx very much for those resources, NO, i didn't know about the ones other than the ipdb ones. Destruk has given me some advice on changes which i implemented. The game is currently playable! It's kinda fun, kinda boring. I mean, the sounds are great, but the actual table is not my favourite. Having said that it would be nice to fix up.

Now what i can tell you is this... the graphics need a major overhaul. For those who have the VP8 table loaded, you will see that the graphics were made by decals on the backdrop. Check it out.

One of the ways (and there seems to be many ways) we do it now i believe is to create a plastics layer in photoshop and use that to make the graphics. This is how i did the other tables I've worked on.

This one is tough however. I actually wish MONICLE was available to be honest. I don't want to sideswipe his work on goonies because it looks choice...but he seems to be a MASTER in my opinion of making objects like this. If you look at his Zombie table, the church and such, you will see what i mean. This Fire! table has similar types of construction in the back of the PF.

Also, Destruk has pointed out some issues with the lift ramp in the center...so I may send this to JP to have a glance at since he will be able to guide me in the right direction as to how to maybe fix it.... I'll do that later today i suppose and see what he is up to :)

Anyways, I have the go ahead to load the WIP MOD of this of what i have done to date. Does anyone want to play with what i've done so far? If we really want to see this one come alive, we need high res graphics, and some HELP!

Cheers,
Maceman

ps: anyone else notice sentences dissapearing and reappearing while typing in the reply box? I am sitting watching my typing before i am about to post and lines of text are seriously dissapearing and reappering???!!! No I am not smoking anything :) :)

any text disappearing/reappearing in your browser is most likely related to your browser. I keep Safari, Chrome, IE, and Nightly Firefox on this pc lately to get around all these inconsistencies while working on servers. Noah might have some insight as to what actually causes the issue for you.

In the post form, you'll see a button on the upper left, 'Toggle Editing Mode'.

Try that. It may be the ckeditor acting up.

Here is the latest WIP!:
http://www.mediafire...0bbjtbnhmng7gft

Again, this is just a quick and dirty mod. In speaking with JP, it is obvious this table needs an overhaul from scratch. The script from Destruk is pretty tight, so it would be a matter of reusing his script and rebuilding....

Play with this mod in the meanwhile :)
