so if I delete the gif folder, ultradmd behaves exactly the same. Error log told me it couldn't find the gifs (error reporting was inconsistent, i tried it a bunch and finally it showed one time stamped 12 minutes prior)

I moved the folders and table all around, tried root of C drive even, got no gifs working. It's not a windows 8 only problem, two other people I have helped install this are getting no gifs on windows 7...

apparently I missed a step

UltraDMD now REQUIRES the v3 XDMD.dll, this mean you have to install v2 as normal, then copy the v3 XDMD.dll and replace the one you had

thanks randr, much respect.

I'm glad we figured out the "animations not showing" problem.  I will update the web site to make it explicitly clear that the DLL needs to be replaced.

For the PinDMD issue, does the test table exit properly?  Or it is just AMH?  What about other UltraDMD tables?

BTW, randr, the video was great!  When the app exited and the screen showed "UltraDMD has stopped working", the screen shows the inside of a cab, with the speaker and circuit board.  I had to replay it a couple of times to realize what I was looking at.  That's awesome.  :dblthumb:

Do I have to place gifs in the table dir?

...\Tables\America's Most Haunted.UltraDMD\   <-----all gifs associate to this table inside this folder

And for GIJoe table for example [...\Tables\GIJoe.UltraDMD\ ]

Regards

Thanks got it working fine now that the Gifs are placed in their own folder under the tables dir.  I do get a crash upon exit though, both on AMH and the UDMD test table.  This is with version 1.1.150703 and a PinDMD2.

For those of you with a PinDMD, I have a couple of things I'd like you to try.

In "America's Most Haunted UltraDMD2.vpt" can you please add "UltraDMD = NULL" to Table1_Exit?

Sub Table1_Exit()

    UltraDMD = NULL

End Sub

good idea, but still crashes.  I was thinking why didn't I try that.  :pinnochio:   I used to have to do that before it was added to a core.vbs (I think 24x??)  seems to take 1 to 1.5 seconds after trying to exit before crash dialog (if that helps)

A DMD bundle is about $280 (http://virtuapin.net...products_id=159).  A PinDMD by itself is about $90 (http://virtuapin.net...&products_id=98).

Here are my questions: if I were to buy a DMD system for testing, is this $280 bundle what I need?  Is there a reason to spend more?  If I were only interested in reproducing the crashing issue, do I need an actual DMD?  Or can I reproduce the issue with only the PinDMD (with NO DMD connected)?

I think I may need to buy the whole DMD system to be sure I can get all the kinks worked out.  I also need to test the interactions with front end system (make sure I am releasing resources properly).

Excellent! Really appreciate the work you're doing on this. It's not easy to learn but converting AMH to VPX and seeing that, at the core, the script isn't hard to implement - just getting over the initial hump of learning something new!

PinDMD2 ordered.  Stay tuned.

I can donate a plasma DMD. Has some lines out, but good enough at least for testing. However, in addition to the PinDMD2 you would still need a power transformer and a power board/DMD piggy board or similar.

Well, a not fully functional plasma DMD is not a very good gift if you have to buy more stuff to get it to work. But if you were thinking of going the plasma route anyway and you needed to buy some time to get all the parts together, a test unit can help solve the issue a little bit faster maybe. PM me if you are interested.
