I get the same issue as htamas describes, IF I do the following.

I didn't read the script changes between the single ball roms and the mb, so, on my cab I just downloaded the nvram that I had uploaded yesterday to my cab so I didn't need to go into the rom. I wanted that double credit instead of a bunch. Being lazy, I fired up the mb table and changed only the rom name. And, obviously, that one is having issues if you give it a single ball rom. Actually, the exact same thing that htamas was describing. So, I believe that he didn't pay very much attention to what table he loaded when he tried those things out.

I can however not get the mb rom to coin up anymore. I can't copy a working single player over to the mb nvram. Won't coin up, and if I change the rom settings like I did earlier, I'm still having problems. I believe I've got a backup of that old nvram laying around somewhere. I find these kind of unexpected problems interesting, and worth sharing I guess.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Hmm. I believe I've figured out how to get the mb mod working. I'll contact JP on it and see if he agrees. I believe it would also be beneficial if the nvram for the mb - comes with the table.

UPDATE 3.0.1 Multiball:

I have updated the Multiball version with the new desktop backdrop as the normal version, and I have added the nvram and replaced the script edited by Thalamus :)

Maybe I should explain quite fast what is needed to start a multiball.

You have to first lite P-O-K in POKER.

How ? By hitting each kicker once you will get one letter. You have to do this three times, obviously to get to P-O-K, now you you will see what is normally the extra ball light start to flash in the upper most kicker. This is also why it is important that extra-ball is enabled in the rom settings. So, that is also why a nvram is provided. Shoot that one and you will see that the ball is now locked.

Complete locking the last two kickers and you will get into a 3 ball mb, lock only 1 more and it will become a two ball mb instead, once the ball in play drains. The next lock is the right most, last of course, the one on the left ( 3 bals )

With the new physics from JP, I had a blast playing, got to mb on the first game. There seems to be a slight delay after kickers has been hit/ejected, before switches becomes responsive again. This was mentioned by the guy that made the rom mod, so, if it acts a bit different from the proper Alien Poker, you should know that there isn't something wrong with your setup. Typical annoyance, you hit the upper kicker, but you can't change the lane light right after the ball is ejected.

Oh, it was mostly by fluke. Decided to look at the VP9 version and that table gave me back a nvram with credits. So, I poked around to see why that was and saw some very small differences from what JP had in the VPX.

JP i noticed maybe a small flaw

The ball was plowing right over the wires below the bumpers
i noticed there was nothing collidable there, and the wires themselves probably too small to stop the ball if collidable.

i tossed a couple skinny walls inside the wire ramps
and a bit shorter than the right ramp (shorter by about the ramp width), so the ball fits through the gap
i put them in the aMetalWires collection

The other wire ball guides were fine, they are also a bit taller then the 2 below the bumpers

did you double check that you have the right ROM and
Delete the existing nv ram and use the nv ram JP included in the zip?

I guess you mean the 2 low wires under the flippers? Yes, they are not collidable. They are there just for the looks :) I know they are there in the real machine to stop you from getting back the ball after it rolls through the side lanes. But in VPX they are too low to have an effect on the ball.

alpok_b6 nothing happens, but alpok_l6 works by putting 3 credits

Yea those 2
i just put some 50 height skinny walls in them

Mind you all i got for the deal was a nice ball hits wire noise.
Which i hear a lot.
Does nothing for my score  :throw:

Have you tried re downloading the ROM?
seems like maybe a bum ROM

Or you could try resetting the ROM entirely
delete nvram, and replace with fresh copy of JP's
delete alpok_b6.cfg from pinmame config folder
delete alpok_b6 key from pinmame registry

That resets everything the PC knows about the ROM

@Stat : Without checking, because of the nature of the hack - I expect that the extra ball being active is what you are looking for. And if you going to use it, It would probably have to say something like Multiball Act/Rdy.

@batimanvesgo : The nvram provided should have 30++ credits active already - do you see that ? Also, are any of the other common keys for coin working to add credit with (3,4,5 ) ? It might be that you have to put in a coin key into the script because one of the things that was done by the guy that modified the rom, was that he "stole" entry points for his hack via coin slots, disabling all but one and it that one doesn't match. You won't be able to coin up.

Update : Might not be 100% accurate information. But, my answer is still valid in some ways I guess. Try to add custom coin code into the table1_KeyDown sub.

If KeyCode = keyInsertCoin1 Then vpmTimer.PulseSw 4

keyInsertCoin can be 1,2 and 3 - the switch for the coins in the game is 4,5,6 - so try combinations of these.

I tried to delete nvram and cfg, put the new nvram on and it didn't change anything unfortunately ...

For all other tables the credit buttons work, except for this multiball table

MB, Coins, for me, Key 5 works, but not always, press 5 several times...
Don't forget, for MB Version you need the nvram from here!
