A Big Thank-you for PBX Recorder!!!

Once I read I required the correct Codec's and downloaded them, then everything came together perfectly.  Everything "just worked" for me

Now my OCD for matching file names is taken care of for me.  I find if i get a high score on my table I end up removing the original DMD video and recording a new one, so even in the preview videos people can see my scores!!   :tongue3:

After completing all my tables (getting backglasses & playfields) with this great tool, I just need it to capture 1 table at a time.  I know gtxjoe added this, i'm just confused on how to use it.  Can someone explain as I only need to capture the latest table upload from day to day.

Hey there, you have two options

1) In the PBXR options, change to the recording mode to this open,  "Record complete media set for new tables only (If any media is found, the table is skipped)", and you should be all set.

or

2) You can open 2 file explorer windows (one to your VP tables folder and another to the PBXRecorder folder), you can click and drag a vpt or vpx file onto the PBRrecorder.exe file, and it will only process that table.  NOTE: That table must be added to the PinballX xml file.

gtxjoe, just want to say thanks for this.  Works great.  What an awesome utility.  I have to go back and redo my dmd's, I got the bg recording for them, but reading through the thread I see what I did.  Funny I have been using screenres wrong this whole time like so many others.  I have the b2s dmd turned off for all my tables, so never caused me a problem, the pinmame dmd displays great.

But the tables and bg videos are awesome.  It used to bother me when I would have a video of a table, then when I enter a game it would be a slightly different version of the table.  Now it is my exact tables, and it looks great.

I will get my screenres sorted out and get the dmd's re-recorded this weekend.  Thanks so much for putting this together.  Having the front-end work with the exact correct media really makes a huge difference.

I have no idea what I am doing.

Thanks a lot Gtxjoe, this is an awesome tool that will save hours of precious time to newcomers and will also simplify things for the others !

Although it‎ works fine for me on most tables, unfortunately I still have issues with a few specific tables :
for ACDC, Cirqs Voltaire, Congo, Créature of the black lagoon... the game launches fine but PBX recorder stays stuck on the screen which says that recording will start in 30 seconds...  (I deleted all playfield vidéos and set it to search for missing média / record 15 seconds, the tool goes through the tables)
I initially thought maybe tables with directb2s ‎, or vp10 tables were the issues, but realized the recorder worked on some other tables with this characteristic.

Any idea where that might come from ?
thanks a lot !

Edit : I found a workaround by assigning these problematic tables to a different VP group in the Game Manager, there was a "_" in the name of one of my groups which I think was causing the script not to work.

Talk about awesome, a huge THANK YOU to anyone who was involved with making this a reality. And the continued enhancements gtxjoe keeps showing off are amazing.

Once the LAV codecs were installed I was golden, made it into the B's before I called it a night. Will kick that off again tonight after work to continue chugging away.

I prefer not to run the pinmame dmd or b2s backglass thru PBX due to performance impact. Even on my new i5 PBX would mess up and show something wrong to the table when they were enabled. Now, videos and pictures via this tool really solved that issue. Hooray!!

Only issue I have to figure out now (which is NOT an issue with PBXRecorder) is how to properly turn off the pinmame dmdfor specific titles. For example when playing 'Big Guns' via PBX the pinmame dmd covers the rad brick/LED display I would like to see. yet PBXRecorder and directly launching 'Big Guns' from VP, the red brick/LED shows as expected. I thought I had it figured out, but clearly still missing something. Any thoughts appreciated, but as always I will keep poking at it. ;).

Did I say Thanks for PBXRecorder?? Cuz it needs to be said again. Thanks!!

I'm having trouble trying to record one pm5 table via the drag and drop function. It states it is not in the xml, it is but the xml is not in yhe visual pinball filder but a folder callen pm5. Is it not finding the table (xml) because I have it in a new catagory in PX called pm5 and not loaded in game manager in the visual pinball catagory? When I first ran it for all my pm5 tables I ran it with only the pm5 catagory loaded in PX and the visual pinball catagory was un checked in the manager.

Your pm5 system needs to be identified as a Visual Pinball system in PinballX.ini in order for PBXRecorder to add any tables to your capture queue. You can fix this with the Settings Wizard.

No. You can use PinballX built-in support for real DMD. The latest version 2.13 has native support for pindmd3, so check that out.

Nice to see Future Pinball get some love. Thanks Carny!

It looks like the next challenge is supporting real DMD video recordings for PIN2DMD and PinDMD3/2/1

Not so straight forward since it's not being rendered on a lcd screen to record anymore. Needs to be in 128x32 dimensions. Need to think about this one...

gtxjoe - Thank you for this fantastic utility!  It's great to finally have images that match my tables and backglasses as they are configured in my cabinet.

I have one suggestion to make...sometimes my VP is throwing errors, which causes the recording script to hang indefinitely.  I believe this is because it is waiting for the VP Player window, which does not display in this scenario.  You may want to consider adding the timeout argument to "WinWaitActive, Visual Pinball Player" around line 1256, so that the script is more "set and forget".  I've customized my copy of the script to do this, and it appears to be working well!

Sure, this will record the error message, but it is much easier to flip through the images once everything is done, identify the tables that raised errors, then correct them and re-record.

Just a thought - thanks again!

Can I make a design request?

Can we have a variable for the timer? 30 seconds is along time and Mine are ready to record at 5 so 10 would be my adjustment.

Can we have a script error check? I have a few tables I NEVER play that were still updated for UVP which I no longer have. can it do a wait function to give the person a chance to fix it so it runs and records properly? I tend to use this as a way to check if all my tables are correctly processing and working.
