MB: What's your hardware? You might try limiting the max texture size in the Video Preferences. There have also been some reports of memory leaks, so you might try a fresh restart of VP just to be sure.

Safe Cracker: What version is that?

I know the physics talk was weeks ago, but having had the chance to play a real Addams Family table this weekend after many months of playing the VP recreation, I wanted to weigh in and say that everything I had practised on the virtual table seemed to carry over with good stead to the physical one! I was quite surprised with how well it translated really. There is definitely some vibe missing from VP though and I can't really describe it (springy ball? transference of momentum? I have nooo idea really what to pinpoint than some mysterious 'x' factor!), and I'm really interested to see what mukuste can conjour up once the physics engine is tidied up and tinkered with!

DX9 is playing like a dream on my machine, so thanks for all the hard work from EVERYONE that has been involved with development of this fine community effort! Pinball is a rare beast to find in the wild, and this is filling the hole left by the lack of real tables for me to play.

AMD Phenom II X4 Processor 965 (3.4GHz)

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3/1600, PC3/12800 fast 8-8-8-24 timings CL8 RAM.

video cards both: EVGA GTX460 1G Superclocked

i got more than enough power to run it.

it will give me up to 3 errors

1st the b2s server will always either say out of memory or some exception error and always crash.

than the table will either says it's the wrong rom which is BS it is or it will say some render error or the exception error again and the table will either load with no rom or crash VP.

this is using 1.0 rom and night mod (day mod won't even start)

the table did start once with no b2s than that's it's never started again...

all tests were with clean run of vp and lowering textures didn't help.

safe cracker

Dreamtrap: for tables that have lots of high res textures, 1 gb of ram on GPU is sometimes not enough. Unfortunately, It's not always about "power". Very nice rig though.

You can export textures, resize them and reimport them back in.  I welcome you to read the monster bash thread, there's lots of good help in there but I don't think we should take up any more of this thread's time as it's not a tech beta issue.

No, I don't have b2s, no cab. If it crashes with b2s then that's a b2s bug.

i just tested Safe Cracker_VP915_1.01_FS.vpt with working boardgame-backglass on VP9_DX9_test9a and it works

( i run it on a low-end intel4000 grafix card on my laptop - 2 screens are connected )

Thanks for the additional info. I assume that DreamTrap doesn't have enough GPU memory to run both the table and the backglass at the same time. b2s should check for that error and report it, but I guess it doesn't and instead just crashes.

Does older build still load for you? I have had no issues with any of the builds other than expected issues already mentioned

I have 1GB of video memory and I don't have issues (even running the B2S on the same video card).      I don't think that's the culprit here.

Can you run VPinMame's "setup.exe", click "test", and try loading the safe cracker rom?

Both SafeCracker and MB PC-Killer run perfectly fine for me with the latest DX9 beta, including B2S - and I have the same CPU like DreamTrap and a single GTX 560 with only 1 GB memory. So there is definitely some other problem than the DX9 build.

Today i found a table that stutters pretty bad in DX9 Test9a and previous...but not so bad in DX7.
The game is Cosmic Gunfight v1.1.1(both FS and WS) and created by Koadic, OldSkoolGamer, and ICPJuggla.
FPS is good.
It is only tested on my i7 laptop with pretty crappy Nvidia gfx card. All other tables runs really smooth.

Hmm, I tried the 1.1.1 WS-SS version, also on my laptop with a Nvidia GT 540M, and I got no stutter, it was very smooth. Might it have been some background process or it's reproducible?
